A Thankful Month Day 12

What am I thankful for today?

Second chances.
Last month I purchased a skein of silk and wool blend fiber dyed in blue and purple. I spun and plied a skein last week.

Then, over the weekend, I predrafted and spun a second skein of this gorgeous fiber.

After I plied it and used the knitty-noddy to wind it in to a lovely soft, thick skein, I compared it to the first skein I had spun.

Oops.

Skein One is spun much tighter than Skein Two.

My second chance? I respun the second skein a second time, tightening the ply so the two skeins look much more alike.

Can you tell which is Skein One and which is Skein Two?

Aren't you glad there are second chances? Not just for yarn but for lots of other things that we mess up the first time around.

Check over at Rebecca's blog for other thankful posts.

I can't tell - I love that shade - or I should say shades of blue - gorgeous! I'm thankful for second third and fourth chances!

beautiful fibre! My spinning wheel is still packed up somewhere so hasn't gone into the room yet. I am bad at spinning- -very chunky yarn, so I know I need to improve. I love your spinning- so even within the skein even if the skeions didn't match straight away.

What are you planning to knit from it?

I can't tell which is which, but I can tell that they are both beautiful! I too am grateful for second chances and sadly sometimes I need third and fourth ones too...

Second chances are one of the reasons that I love crocheting...and knitting. I've never spun yarn and I didn't know that you could have a second chance with it. Or even that you might need a second chance. But I surely do know that I need lots of "second chances" in other areas of my life. I am so grateful for them!

I would just have used them in two different projects. You are SUCH a fiber master!

What a beautiful shade of blue. I've been working on a sock pattern...it's interesting as a backwards knitter all the considerations to take when writing instructions for the right-handed knitting population. Hopefully, I'll post it within the next month...and it will be free.

Hello again Willow!

You are part a meme I did on my blog today! Please only participate in it if you have the time --I know it is quite a busy time of the year.

Have a good weekend!
