June Gloom

This month our weather here in coastal Southern California has followed the typical early summer forecast. The Professor says that Southern California weathermen always take their vacations during June because they can just email in their predictions. Every day will be the same:

Early morning coastal fog and low cloudiness,
giving way to sunshine later in the day.

When The Professor, Ellen and I went to Malibu last Friday to walk at El Matador State Beach, we were met with grey skies and equally grey surf. There wasn't much color around. See the evidence in the Surfing post below.

Maybe that's why I was drawn (again) to Malibu Garden Nursery and the Starbuck's next door. The whole place was bursting with color!

The perfect antidote for June Gloom.

Ooh, I love these pictures -- they just scream summer! I want to be sitting in that last chair right now, knitting :) (I like your new blog header, too, btw.)

Wow, you're not kidding about that color burst! I don't mind June gloom a bit -- it means plants have less heat and dryness to struggle with. And I have to water less :-)

Seek and ye shall find.. colour galore. The photos are very cheery. I like the comment about the weathermen. Here in NZ I think they just put their heads out the window and say what they see.

It is good to catch up and see the posts for the past few days! A garden can always spark a day and you certainly took advantage of it! Love the color!
The New Boy is toooo cute!!

Pictures painted your thoughts very well. I love the smells of Starbucks and how wonderful to sit down in a familiar place while on our travels.
Great photos.

We have also had a rainy/cool Spring this year on the East coast. I need some sunshine!

I love the photo of the cat in the flowers and the pretty blue of the chair!

Your color burst pictures are beautiful - that blue on the chair is the exact shade I'm going to paint my chair. Now...I just need to get around to doing it!

I didn't think you could use the words grey and California in the same sentence. Luckily your beautiful photographs have chased away the gloom, especially that gorgeous cat. Its raining in Scotland by the way.

Beautiful colours Willow, i hope the sun returns soon. I accompanied a party of students to the beach to study longshore drift today and its was cloudy with a breeze. Not a bad day. Jane x

Those are some great colors. I love the kitty cat picture. Then again, that bench chair scene is calling to me.
The gray colors....I have learned after living here in Oregon that God's artistry can still speak volumes in the many shades of gray.
Blessings to you.

Those are such lovely flowers, very vibrant and so cheerful.

Aside from the flowers I am also hearting the chair.

Ooo that blue paint is fantastic. It makes me want to decorate a whole room in it and sit feeling Summery even on a cold Winter day.
