Friday Fave Five

How is it that Friday has come around again in just three days instead of seven? At least, it feels like our seven day week went by in just three days. Every Friday Susanne hosts a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to participate to look back over the week (or three days) and choose and share the five best things that happened in your week.
My Five Faves for this past week:

1. A week at home. Even The Professor has been gone this week and so I've been alone at Willow's Cottage. A lot of reading has gone on.

2. My car needed some work done and our mechanic came and got it and drove it over to the shop and had it finished in 45 minutes! Every time we take our cars in for service or repair, he is pleasant and efficient and he always does a little something extra. I think his business model is based on the statement "Above all, be kind and generous."

3. Lavender. I have six lavender plants and they are outdoing themselves in blooming this summer. I have bouquets of lavender drying all around the cottage. Soon it will be time to fill up the sachets I knitted.

4. I discovered that my neighbor's husband was out of town this week too, so I invited her to our church's summertime Wednesday night dinner. We had so much fun! Good food, good conversation, lots of laughter, and, the best part, we didn't have to cook!

5. A clean kitchen. Once a year, I deep clean my kitchen, pulling everything from the shelves, cupboards and drawers. At the same time I'm cleaning, I declutter and reorganize everything on the shelves. I decided that the best time to do it was while The Professor was gone so he wouldn't have to wade through the piles of pots and pans to find the espresso machine. When he gets home this afternoon, he'll walk in to a clean kitchen.

There were a lot of other faves for me this week--it's always hard to choose just five, isn't it? You can visit Susanne's blog Living To Tell The Story and share what others have to fave about this week.

How was your week?

Oh wow good for you with that deep cleaning! You really do have one great mechanic. He even picks the car up for you...now that's service.
Glad you got some reading in...
Have a fun weekend.

Ah, that weekday math thing happens to me all the time! Yay for you to have such a good mechanic. I knew a fellow from automotive class who had a shop in Signal Hills. Conscientious, kind, serviceable, clean... your guy reminds me of him. Enjoy your lavender, Willow :-)

I've been having a sesh in the kitchen today cleaning ovens etc. It's good to know that honest mechanics exist. Here in the UK they have a mixed reputation.

Ooo lavender- yes there's been a little of that going on here too.

Wow, a week to yourself! I would love it! Isn't it great that you have more than 5 things to pick as favorites! Really, we all are truly blessed.

Have a great week!

Doesn't it make you feel good when you can declutter? Almost as much fun as organizing a space, which I truly do love. Now if everything could be done at waist-height, I'd be in 7th heaven.

Would you like to come over and deep clean a kitchen in Hawai'i. LOL. Great list. Have a great Friday :) Aloha

A lovely week at Willow's Cottage. I have to second your relief and/or pleasure at having an honest mechanic who is sooooo accommodating.

Sometimes a week alone can be refreshing. It sounds like yours was productive.

I just finished decluttering my house - a three month project - but oh how good it feels! I got rid of so much junk I never even realized I had.
I love lavender - what a perfect idea to knit sachets. You must post pictures!

That deep cleaning sounds like just the thing! And the house all to yourself for a week -- wow...

Thanks for the feedback on the survey, btw! I'm hoping it'll be out in the next day or so :)

I wish you would come over and deep clean my kitchen. Or at least rearrange the stuff in my cabinets. ;-) It's been on my summer to-do-list but hasn't been touched yet. Oh well.

Thanks for sharing.

Our mechanic was honest too - he just looked at the car and said "It's dead" :)

Anyway - we have a new one now so that's good news!

You're inspiration with your kitchen deep clean - I need to do that too.

Hope you have a great weekend!

A deep cleaning of the kitchen is such a lot of work but oh it feels so good when it's done.

A great mechanic is a real blessing.
