School--Week One: Check

Five Favorite Events.  Every Week.  On Friday.  It's a tradition at Willow's Cottage.  Even during a busy ramp-up-to-school time, I want to focus my thoughts and my blog posts on Being Thankful at least once a week.  Susanne's Friday Fave Five is my way to concentrate on gratitude.  If you would like to participate in FFF, click HERE and  post your Faves.

1. While most schools have been in session for two or three weeks already, including the university where the Professor teaches, I just started my classes this week.  That's an advantage of teaching homeschool kids.  The co-ops can plan their own schedules.  What a great first week it was!  One of the students walked out of class and exclaimed to his mother, "That was fun!"  It was fun for me, too.

2. I will have to 'fess up that I did not write about a particular fave last week.  It was a purchase with which I'm quite pleased.  After deliberating for months about whether we really needed new phones and about which phone to buy if we did, we finally decided that it was time.  Fortunately, there was a deal at the phone store for a buy one, get one free deal, and so we each bought a new MyTouch phone.  I am so twenty-first century now!  Or I will be when I learn how to use some of the apps and functions.

3. This week I've finally been able to return to my workout group.  I joined the week I sprained my ankle, and it was truly frustrating to not be able to participate.  My goal is to do the workouts twice a week with the group, and then the other days I can hopefully motivate myself to walk or ride my bike by myself.  The leaders are encouraging and helpful, and the other people in the group are lots of fun!

4.  Cooler weather.  Foggy mornings. Sunny afternoons.

5.  Meals at home.  I just love eating our own home cooked dinners.  They taste so much better than restaurant food!  The Professor makes a mean grilled salmon.  Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best.

What made your fave list this week?

What a good week, Willow! I'm with you on home-cooked meals... they are the best and healthiest. And great the you're working out again. I'm returning to my yoga mat these days after a hiatus--it feels good. Fun news on the new phone--very modern... LOL! Here's me going less tech at the moment, canceling my Twitter account and more...hehe With my cold finally on the way out, we're looking forward to an apple harvest festival outing tomorrow. And I will be hunting fabric for a special project too! ;o) Happy Weekend, my friend ((HUGS))

Glad you had a great first week. That's great that your ankle is ready for a workout. I wonder when I'll hit this new century with my phone. I still don't even text LOL!
Homemade food is real good and comforting. It's great when the guys bbq!

Simple pleasures ARE the best - cooler mornings, sunny afternoons and home cooked meals, especially if someone else is doing the cooking!

Well, new phones are good, too!

Glad you had a great week!

Glad you had a great first week of school. I still don’t have a phone with apps, so I’m very impressed with your MyTouch. Simple pleasures—yes they are the best. Have a great weekend.

That does sound like a good week! Congratulations on getting back to school successfully -- that's always such a good feeling. And enjoy those workouts in this cooler weather. I know I am!

I agree, meals at home are the best. I prefer them, even if it requires a bit more work.

I'm a low-tech girl, but would love one of those phones! Have fun with it.

Glad to hear that your ankle is back to normal. You can come and do some home-cooking at my house any time. LOL! I haven't heard of the Touch phone. Sounds like it's a good one, though. Enjoy it.

Good for you on going 21st century with phones. I dont think I'll ever know how to use more than 3 apps before I buy another new phone. Foggy mornings and sunny afternoons - wow!

Besides your sprained ankle you had a nice week ! All schools started here too except University, and homeschooling doesn't exist.
BTW I hate autumn, lol !

How I agree, a trip to a restaurant sounds fun and then - often not so good as home cooked food.

What a great comment from a student! That just motivates one to keep on going!

Glad your ankle is at the point where you can actually rejoin your class.

I love my homecooked meals too but a restaurant meal tastes pretty darn good after a hard work week. LOL.

What do you teach to the homeschool kids? I homeschooled my 5 for 19 years - no co-op available for classes, though - just for fun stuff. I'd have appreciated a math teacher for the high school years. :)

Congrats on the new phone....everyone I know who has an iPHone loves it. I'm waiting for the second generation of the iPhone 4 so I can video call with my daughter anywhere - I will get her one too.

Have a great week!

Your bunnies are perfect, and I don't think that any of Julie's bunnies are world travelers as Eleanor is, ha, ha.

I really don't know what I'm going to do with my new yarn. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you, as always, for sharing your "favs." They always make me happy, just reading them.

Simple pleasures ARE the best, there's nothing like a nice homecooked dinner! It's nice that you get to keep sunny afternoons, even on a cooler day! Have a great weekend!

I'm with you on cooler mornings!

It's so encouraging to have a group to exercise with, isn't it? My husband and I are trying to keep each other accountable, but sometimes I think it would help to have someone who isn't so close. :)

I loved your fave five...the last is the best...that's on my supper menu for tomorrow night..
Hope that you can return to your work out group...It's so hard to keep off those extra pounds.
But all we can do is keep working at it and stay healthy.
