Walking Down Memory Lane

Not actually a Lane, but The Strand.  In Manhattan Beach.

Planning a meet up with my dear sweet walking buddy from my LA days, we decided to walk our favorite section of the LA Beach Cities. Great memories as we strolled on The Strand.

Past the Pier.

Past the children at surf camp.

We walked and talked and simply enjoyed each other's company.  Then we enjoyed lunch among the hanging baskets of flowers.  It was warm and iced tea was a perfect refreshment.

After we sadly said our goodbyes (for a few weeks), I drove home along Pacific Coast Highway passing the usual landmarks.

The late afternoon fog was just beginning to roll in and the squadrons of pelicans were trolling for fish for dinner.

And so I too rolled on home north past Pepperdine University, past Trancas Canyon and Decker Canyon and Pt. Mugu.  Making more memories.

I enjoyed sharing in your relaxing day at the beach and your drive home along the coast.

What I will miss most about moving, is the ocean. It will be about 6 hours away! But I will have a new kind of nature to love.

We did go up to Flagstaff because our son is almost finished with his GE and is looking for a school. Flagstaff is a little cold for us in the winter. We don't know if we want to deal with snow in our old age. In Prescott it snows much less.

We are also wondering if we will do this. (I know how you feel) We are always way to careful to have any fun. (Ha Ha) However, we've been thinking about it for a few years, and are making small steps closer and closer to our dream and being sensitive to knowing God will make the ultimate decision.

Pretty views on your "lane", Willow. I'm so rarely at the shore, it's so refreshing to see the sand and sea and blue blue skies.

I missed this post earlier! As usual, your photos are just gorgeous! I think I need to seriously plan another trip across country to California!

And I recognized Santa Monica Beach. I loved that place. It's fun walking down memory lane. That's what we did on our way to northern CA. (Mount Shasta) and from there we headed back up the 101 to Bellingham and looked for places that we could find and recognize from our honeymoon 40 years ago.

You always make me think I'd enjoy Southern California beaches even though we hardly ever traverse farther south than Santa Barbara. I just don't care for all of that traffic, but we should brave it sometimes, I think.

Beautiful beach scenes!

Marg told me that you have been 'road-tripping' your way through the states as well...so I just went back to see where you had been. Wow...you only have one to go! We are back home...taking a break before we carry on with our extended road trip in October. By the time we finish the next leg we will have only a few states left to visit. What fun, isn't it?

I particularly love that last photo - I adore pelicans.

I have caught up with lots of photos but forgive me for not commenting on every post. Those robot things are too tiresome.
Your Grandson is certainly growing up. He is gorgeous. Love all the Christmas stockings and enjoyed your photos of trips.
