A Thankful Month Day 10

I'm thankful for tea, chocolate and roses today.
I came home from my walk and brewed a pot of chocolate tea in my Blue Willow teapot,

and ate chocolate hazelnut rose brownies.

Yes, they really were chocolate-hazelnut-rose brownies.

A friend whose son I tutor weekly owns Ojai Lavender and Roses farm. She is publishing a cookbook with recipes using ROSE flavoring and she sometimes brings me samples to try. She warned me that the rose flavor was overpowered by the Belgian chocolate. I had to sample two or three of the brownies she brought me today to make sure I agreed with her. I suppose now she'll have to make another batch of chocolate hazelnut rose brownies and have me sample them again. Pity. It's a dirty job but I volunteered, anyway. Well, somebody has to do it.

  2. Stick with it .. .you'll surely be much healthier for it. . .antioxidants from the chocolate and a happy heart from stopping to smell the roses.

  5. How do you get a job as a brownie tester? I think I have natural talent for that one.

My thankfulness post for today will be about tea too! I wish we could share a cup together...and maybe a brownie with it!

  7. The Tao of Tea makes a rosepetal black blend that I adore! But roses with chocolate? Hmmm. I suppose it depends on the rose and the chocolate.

  9. Rufus wants to say "'[;[kkknp[\" At least, I'm assuming since he walked across the keyboard while I grabbed some tea. Yesterday, he also re-set our home page to something along the lines of "zzzzzzzzzkk;xzzzzzzzz$zzkk$". No kidding. :o)

Anyhow, I'm proud that you stepped up to the difficult task of taste-testing all those brownies! My brave mum! :o) Loves--

  10. I thought the brownies would have been better sans hazelnuts; the rose might have been less over-powered then. I'd better taste another batch to be sure, though.

Hey, Mama Mia, it seems as if Rufus is picking up keyboard tricks from his cousin Touchy.

Word verification: maciami. Sounds Italian, no? Maybe a little-known but decadent Neapolitan dessert involving custard, chocolate sauce, and rose petals?

  12. Hi ~ I couldn't resist a visit to one of my favorite places. I am not sure about the roses and chocolate brownies but I would love to try the chocolate tea. One of the projects that is on my list to accomplish is learning how to knit. Hope you are still up to a challenge!

  13. I like rose and violet cream chocolates so rose brownies would be yummy. I wonder if I could get a chocolate tasting job? Just shout if you need a 'third' opinion LOL!

  14. I love that Blue Willow teapot - we have 4 cups and saucers. I'll have to keep my eye out for the teapot - my husband loves Blue Willow. And his grandfather did before him.

    That brownie look delicious!
