Early morning coastal fog and low cloudiness,
giving way to sunshine later in the day.
When The Professor, Ellen and I went to Malibu last Friday to walk at El Matador State Beach, we were met with grey skies and equally grey surf. There wasn't much color around. See the evidence in the Surfing post below.
Maybe that's why I was drawn (again) to Malibu Garden Nursery and the Starbuck's next door. The whole place was bursting with color!

The perfect antidote for June Gloom.
Ooh, I love these pictures -- they just scream summer! I want to be sitting in that last chair right now, knitting :) (I like your new blog header, too, btw.)
ReplyDeleteWow, you're not kidding about that color burst! I don't mind June gloom a bit -- it means plants have less heat and dryness to struggle with. And I have to water less :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos especially posting about such ugly weather. Well not posting but informing us.
ReplyDeleteCarleen at Life, Liberty and Good Coffee has been posting about the same weather...must be something else :)
Love your shots!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Willow! I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteOh Kak Willow...I just love that burst of colours!!!
ReplyDeleteSeek and ye shall find.. colour galore. The photos are very cheery. I like the comment about the weathermen. Here in NZ I think they just put their heads out the window and say what they see.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to catch up and see the posts for the past few days! A garden can always spark a day and you certainly took advantage of it! Love the color!
ReplyDeleteThe New Boy is toooo cute!!
Pictures painted your thoughts very well. I love the smells of Starbucks and how wonderful to sit down in a familiar place while on our travels.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
We have also had a rainy/cool Spring this year on the East coast. I need some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the cat in the flowers and the pretty blue of the chair!
Your color burst pictures are beautiful - that blue on the chair is the exact shade I'm going to paint my chair. Now...I just need to get around to doing it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think you could use the words grey and California in the same sentence. Luckily your beautiful photographs have chased away the gloom, especially that gorgeous cat. Its raining in Scotland by the way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours Willow, i hope the sun returns soon. I accompanied a party of students to the beach to study longshore drift today and its was cloudy with a breeze. Not a bad day. Jane x
ReplyDeleteLove the bench shot, Willow.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great colors. I love the kitty cat picture. Then again, that bench chair scene is calling to me.
ReplyDeleteThe gray colors....I have learned after living here in Oregon that God's artistry can still speak volumes in the many shades of gray.
Blessings to you.
Oh, yes...all this vivid color and delight lifts the spirits! Love all the blues... and that sweet kitty! Happy weekend ahead, Willow :o) ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThose are such lovely flowers, very vibrant and so cheerful.
ReplyDeleteAside from the flowers I am also hearting the chair.
Ooo that blue paint is fantastic. It makes me want to decorate a whole room in it and sit feeling Summery even on a cold Winter day.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos! Those bright colors are wonderful.
