Knitting the Week Away

I had intended to focus my Fave Fives on some knitting projects I have been working on this week.  This afternoon, I photographed them and planned my post.  Imagine my dismay when I uploaded my first photo and received this message: "Whoops.  It looks like you are out of photo storage."  Hmmmm, after five and a half years of blogging, I am unable to post a picture.  Evidently, I have hit the dreaded 'you gotta pay for it' limit.  Now I will have to decide what I intend to do.  In the meantime, you will have to use your imagination when I describe my five favorite knitting projects of the week.

1. A friend is expecting a little girl next month.  I've been busy.  Taking a simple kimono pattern and changing it to my preferences, I knitted a 6 month size white baby sweater which has straight sleeves; the front pieces cross and taper to a point at the waist.  I knitted in a little button hole and sewed on a blingy button at the left side.  Since I always use a washable fiber for anything baby, this is made from white Red Heart Soft yarn and trimmed with a deep raspberry crocheted edging.

2. Then because I had plenty of left over raspberry yarn, I cast on for a neck down raglan sweater in size two.  This little cardi is knitted in dark plum and raspberry stripes.  I must have a thing about crocheted edges right now.  Since I don't know much about crocheting, I am guessing that I made what would be called a picot edging around all the edges. It's--oh sooo sweet.  Three little buttons near the neck line will hold the sweater closed.

3. The knitting blog Pickles has a darling vest pattern which is a free download for size 1.  I used a dusty pink acrylic yarn and added two bright pink, purple and blue buttons.  You can see the pattern here.

4. In February, I had made myself a little beanie in a bulky navy yarn.  It was a simple garter stitch knit but it fit just perfectly. I added a cute crocheted flower at the edge and wore the hat last month when I was visiting my daugther in San Diego.  Since I like to use up my left over stash, I made a second hat and decided to gift it to the little sister of one of my tutoring students.  She's 7 this year and has strawberry blonde hair.  That hat was just begging to go home with her.

5. I've had this Shauna cowl on my needles for a few weeks.  Knitted in seed stitch on size 10.5 needles, it should have worked up a lot faster than it did. But I finally finished it.  I love it in the turquoise Spa yarn I used!

How did you do?  Did you 'see' my knitting?  It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  I did not write anywhere near 1,000 words, let alone 5,000 to 'show' you my five knitting projects but I hope you have brilliant imagination skills to compensate.

Have you run in to the 'can't post any more photos' problem on your blog?  Any insights here?  Comments, commiserations, recommendations, and ideas gladly received!

Obviously, not being able to post photos is not going to make my Fave Five list this week.  But I decided that a lack of pictures would not prevent me from writing about what pleased me and gave me joy.  Thank you, Susanne, for hosting Friday Fave Five every week!

if you upload your photos to photobucket or flickr, or any of the photo sharing sites, they will provide you with a direct link to your picture. You just plug it into your post. when you add a photo, it gives you the option, from my computer, from url, or from library. Use the one that says "from url" and you'll probably be able to figure it out from there.
Your words are wonderful, and the projects sound amazing! (the links helped, too) I'd love to be able to knit, but my wrists and fingers are pretty tweaked. :(

Great descriptive powers, Willow...I have a nice mind's eye view of you knitting--and such great knitting too! I knit a tea cozy, just posted about it, and finally updated my sadly neglected Ravelry page...LOL! So sorry you've reached a limit! I'm on Typepad and already have a paid account which has pretty much no limit as far as I can tell, and I've been blogging for nearly 5 years too. Our Village has a great idea though--Flickr is a nice option, as you can link to your Flickr page in your post and we can go see your photos there. I've been using Flickr for some time, and it's very fun & easy, and been nice place to put my extra photos, etc. There's lots of options though that are free, so give it some thought. Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

Wow knitting galore! I especially like the description of the baby sweater. A raspberry yarn sounds very comfy. When you said your knitting did you mean the ones on your sidebar? I admire them every time I am at your blog. Happy Friday Willow.

Yep...what Our Village is a Little different said. That's funny that this happened to you just after our chat the other day. I'm glad you had a lovely knitting week!

About a year ago I ran out of space. It was so worth it to me to buy te add on. Pictures make a blog so much more appealing. And though your descriptions are lovely, you leave out the details that I revel in. I relish the beautiful finishing you do, the way you join your seams flawlessly, your particular eye for color and texture. Yes, you can link, but I don't always have time or inclination to follow links. Please spring for the extra space. I LOVE your photos!!

Mumsie - I will help you figure out how to put photos on another site and post with links.

Would love to see some pictures, I wish I knew how to knit, oh well maybe someday.

Bummer about the out-of-space notice. I use Flickr but also post photos right on the blog. I used to blog on a different platform prior to the advent of Flickr and lost all my photos when the blog host changed their software. So I'm a bit more wary now of keeping my posts and photos on the same platform.

Anyway, I did "see" your knitted projects and thought how adorable these little treasures must be. Maybe you'll get to share your photos soon (with Kiti's help?). Happy weekend, Willow.

Oh, that's too bad that you can't upload the photos! I didn't know Blogger had a limit -- I am on WP and they do. I have about 59% left after 3 1/2 years of blogging. I've used Flickr and Photobucket as well -- I know Flickr has a monthly free limit but I can't remember what it is. I suppose another option would be to go back through early posts and see if there are any photos you want to delete.

I can imagine your knitting projects...love the color choices!

Yes, I ran into the "no more storage" after one year of blogging...and I paid for extra. it used to be $20 a year, but now it's only $5....so I say go for it!

I had no idea there was any kind of a photo storage limit! I have used Photobucket for other stuff (like my button) and it was easy.

I followed the link and saw the cute vest! I would love to see your beanie, though. Missed your photos!!

Have a great week ahead.

So glad that you did not stop blogging because you didn't have a picture.

If you have your pictures on picasa, you might be able to go back and delete a few. I've been blogging for almost five years and have not run out of space on picasa. . . but I do have to go through and clean it up occasionally.

I'm glad you posted this though, I learned a little about flickr in the process.

I just pulled off the Shauna Cowl.
I've seen those before and thought, how easy and it can be worn in such a simple way.
Hope you get your photos figured out...My turn is coming....We'll look forward to a tutorial.

I loved the hand knit items that were given to my kids when they were born. Especially the booties that were knit into different types of shoes like Mary Janes and cowboy boots. So cute!

Great job of describing. They all sound very well done indeed.

I miss your pictures!
I need a little knitting project for a baby boy -
the shower is very soon.
Do you think the little white cardi in your sidebar would work for a boy?
I also checked out the Pickles site and loved their natural looking styles.
Greetings from almost warm New York!

Gosh, I was so flummoxed by the out of space issue I couldn't concentrate on the rest. I didn't know blogger had a limit on photos. I read through the comments and it sounds like you can pay to add photos - I wonder how much they charge? I've only been blogging 4 years so maybe I have a bit of space left.

I haven't knitted for years but I could imagine all those pieces I really would like to see the pictures now though. Do you have a flickr account you could just upload them there and put a link to them on your post.

I'm glad you did write about your projects - they all sound like great successes! But it's a bummer to hear about the photo limit (and it makes me wonder, nervously, when I might run up against it myself...)
