I think it's fascinating you found that sign and probably some distant relatives of yours were involved in the county's name! It made me curious and (thanks to the internet) I found counties with my own maiden name in Maryland and Georgia. Looks like more family research is called for.
I see signs with people's names frequently but I've never stopped and actually got out to take a photo-- it looks like you had a lot of fun! I recognize that highway sign into Covington!!! I've driven that road countless times! You are making me homesick!
