Fave Five, First of 2010

Happy New Year! Welcome to Willow's edition of Friday Fave Five, First Week of 2010!

Are you ready for a new year? I'm not! I'm just finishing up my Christmas celebrations. Because our family was scattered to other places this year, we played revolving doors (and beds) in an attempt to spend some time together during Christmas week. We did not succeed in having everyone together at the same time, but we all saw each other long enough to say, "Merry Christmas" and share gifts.

1. My Fave Fives this week will be curtailed by my first fave- a new computer! I have had a new laptop in my possession for a few weeks, but moving files and uploading programs has been a slow process. Knowing I had to learn Windows 2007 on my new computer, I dragged my proverbial feet and finally today I made the final computer switch over. However, it's not going so smoothly and therefore my FFF is being affected. All in all, though, I'm thrilled to have a computer now that will read and upload cds and dvds which my old computer had quit doing a long time ago. Because the new computer is doing something 'weird' and I can't upload any more photos or use it until The Professor performs some magic tricks with it, I have moved over to his computer to finish writing my FFFs.

2. Being with family is the best! We loved spending a few days spoiling our New Boy.

3. We enjoyed a couple of walks at Ventura Beach during the week. We are so blessed to live near the beach and in a climate that allows us to walk there year round.

4. Giving my adult children free rein in the kitchen to cook and clean up was definitely a favorite part of my week! They're all competent cooks and willing washers.

5. I loved putzing around my cottage for a couple of weeks without having other obligations like tutoring and teaching sessions. Knitting, reading, and playing games provided just the right amount of activity.

Here we are, 2010, a new year in a new decade, looking back one last time at 2009. What wonderful events impressed you this week?

You can share over at Susanne's blog, Living To Tell The Story.

Happy New Year! On we go to 2010!

Hi Willow

I share in the joys and frustrations of a new lap top computer! It has taken me some time but I think I finally got the hang of it and I finally transferred all my photos to a file where I can find them..lol

Enjoy it! I look forward to many new blog posts in 2010 from Willow's Cottage!

I understand the joys and pains of a new computer -- even with competent help nearby! But good for you to make the jump. Hopefully you will be able to ease into your routines. I like Melanie's take on the adjustment -- teething, indeed!

The perfect start to the New Year..time with family...the new boy...and all the others! Have fun with the new computer!! I just put an anti virus program on my computer and it's running smoothly...not always the case! They listened to my many calls and complaints! :)

I always enjoy your FFF's Willow. I do hope you enjoy your new computer. I have a new desk top sitting in the office waiting for the magical touch of my son. For now. . I'll just stick to my notebook which does the least weird things.
The new boy is looking like such a dear lad. . .
Happy New Year.

A new computer! Yay! Have fun. Your New Boy is darling. Glad you had adult help in the kitchen. That is nice when they grow up and can do that.

Your New Boy is getting mighty big already! These little ones have GOT to stop DOING that! Little is such a rare breed... and sO hard to hold on to... Glad you had a great week - with some good cooks and cleaners on hand! THAT is a REAL something to be thankful for!!!

Happy New Year Willow!

The new boy is quite the grown up gentleman now.
So glad you managed to see most of the family at least some of the time.
Isn't it great when our young(ish) adults can take over and cook and do things like that!
Thrilling you have a new computer
but nerve-wracking at first trying to understand it....
All best wishes for a super
2010

I agree the blessings of a new computer can mean a lot of work!!

A Happy New Year to you and the professor from both of us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you Willow! Do you know, your 'fave five' would almost match mine; except , of course, for the walks on the beach in lovely sunshine. We've had snow for over a week now, which inturn is very lovely. We've also had our adult children home and given them free reign of the kitchen. I have to admit, they do a better job than I do :) Ros

Your "new boy" certainly has turned into a darling little guy, and he's definitely a BOY not a baby:)

Happy New Yeer, dear blogging friend. I took a break from blogging as I tried to get my life in order (HA) but have resolved to be a better blogger in 2010. Hope all is well with you. Take care.

Hi, Willow! Happy New Year, my friend! So great to be back from our trip and catch up with you here and hear some of your news. Oh, but the New Boy has grown sooo much! Glad you had a sweet Christmas. Good luck with your new computer. By month's end I'll be getting a new little laptop. I'm nervous, but it'll be ok...helps to have an IT husband to ease any difficulties--LOL! Wishing you all the very best in 2010! :o) BIG HUGS))

Thanks for visiting Happily Retired Gal by following the link from Ellen's. I love your Fave Five and am reminded I used to participate but haven't recently. Perhaps I'll pick it up again this year since I've been meaning to do more writing again rather than simply share photos as I've been doing. I love living at the beach too. Congrats on the new computer. I made the plunge about 18 months ago and learning Vista was a challenge so I'm trying to decide whether to get Windows 7.
Hugs and blessings,
