Quiet Time

Some weeks are quiet. Savoring the familiar, we slip through the daily routines, hardly noticing that the days have crept past. Thankfully, this is not always a 'bad thing'. I have glided through Willow's Week quietly.

Trying to chronicle the best of this week, I can only report that it was a quiet and gentle time.

1. It rained a little. We woke in the early morning to the sounds of rain pattering on the roof.

2. The sun shone quite a lot. Even though the wind also blew, the cheery sunshine smiled down on us almost daily. Our weather forecast is for a sunny weekend with coastal warnings of very high surf, so we have two more days of this happy weather.

3. Each morning, The Professor makes me my very own cafe latte. Most days, he brews a second one for me to take in my personal mug so I can sip it on the drive to wherever I am going. It's wonderful!

4. There is an Indonesian proverb that says, "Sediket demi sediket, menjadi bukit" which translated literally states, "Little by little, a mountain is made." The English equivalent might be, "Baby steps!" That is the way I've started to tackle my overwhelming assortment of old photos. I took the first baby step toward sorting, decluttering, and organizing almost a century of pictures. Yes, truly, nearly 100 years. I have most, if not all, of the photos from my grandparents, and their ancestors, as well as my parents.

5. Anticipation! I am expecting a short visit from my dearest cousin! If I don't get around this weekend to say hi, you'll know why.

Thank you, Susanne, for hosting Friday's Fave Five! Please click HERE to join in the weekly fun.

I like quiet weeks like that! They don't happen nearly often enough. But they are when we get to take some deep breaths, share a little more time with the Lord, and rejuvinate! Sounds like your week was lovely! Have fun sorting out those photo's -- don't let it be a "job" - let it be a "project"!

Have a great weekend Willow!

I admit that having Rick hand me my morning coffee every morning as I walk out the door is one of my very favorite quiet "I love yous" in my marriage.

That wonderful cup of coffee in the morning. Ah Yes, and made by the men that love us! I also have gained the same treatment.

One box at a time Willow...I'm working through that philosophy and that helps it break up a bit...Knitting on the side while I watch the News in Haiti!
I can't stay away from the knitting store.

You are going to have so much fun going through those old photos. I find that it is like you are reliving all the old memories. (And if you put them on your Flickr account, you just might find some cousins you didn't know you had. Happened to me.) Have fun with your cousin.

Oh, Willow, I understand what a daunting task it is to organize those family photos. I have been trying to do it for a few years now. I have several beautiful scrapbooks which my daughter gave me, but it is so overwhelming to decide what goes where. Good luck!

Oh, I'd keep that professor!

And I would call sorting through 100 years of photos MORE than baby steps! Great progress.

Enjoy your visit!

Serenity. A lovely interlude from my hectic work day. Thanks for sharing your quiet time and I'm taking a deep breath and feeling your peace.

Cafe latte in the mornings - that Professor - he's a keeper.

Sounds like you have a good project--with a good attitude (baby steps)

I, too, have many photos and have begun to start a family history album. I want to write about some of the older family members (using the photos as illustrations). I do not have a deadline...oh yes I do...it must be done before I get so old that I can't write! (it will be an enjoyable on-going rainy-day project)

Surf - yay! Take some photos for me.

You have a major project there, and being the Willow that we know and love, you will do a fabulous job of it and transform those random photos into documented heirlooms. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Have you divided it into smaller parts yet? (Left front foot, first toe - stewed - serve for lunch Monday and Tuesday. Put leftovers into pot pie Wednesday.)

There's something so wonderful about having someone take the time to make you coffee just the way you like it. It goes well beyond the joy of just a good cup of coffee. That's such a nice tradition.

It seems we all have visions of getting photos sorted and some decluttering at this time of year.

Iknow you love that sound of raindrops onthe roof.

The materials with which old churches are built can be what is available in the area and sometimes it signifies the century in which they were built.

Recently I've really appreciated ordinary days and quiet times... it's given me time to cook and just enjoy the fact that everyone is okay.

What a treasure trove to have all those photos! I don't have that many, but I need to organize what I do have.

Love, love, love #3. :-)
