No Entry

Do Not Enter

An incredible view of The Pacific Ocean can be seen just a few steps inside this gate, but the casual passerby is not welcome.  This is private property just a block away from The Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barbara, California.  Even so, the seaside garden and classical pillars evoke a sense of antiquity and peace.

Linking to Toby's Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors.

And an interesting juxtaposition of the ornate gate and the chain-linked fence it's attached to.

Oh, I can smell the ocean from here... ahh.
That really is a beautiful gate, and it does a good job of getting its message across :)

nice private property!
the chain link fence is a bit of a disappointment, but the gate is lovely.

What a beautiful location!
The old-fashioned gate has probably done its job for decades.

I agree with nikkipolani that the juxtaposition of ornate and utilitarian is quite striking!

Thanks for visiting me ~

The fence shows us utility, the gate a barrier - but styled nicely in its black wrought iron. Too bad we cannot pass through to capture the briny sea air and azure waters. We can peer through and imagine anyhow...

First I was annoyed that I couldn't get into this wonderful view. Then I realized that it's private property, and if the public were allowed in, it would be trashed. The property owners want to keep the Vandals beyond the gates. Sigh. The vandals are always with us.

Hi Willow!

I hope you are having a good summer!

It must be so nice to have the key to that gate and be able to enjoy the beach and ocean close up. There is one gated, private park in Manhattan that i should blog about one day :)

Yes, sometimes a gift wrapped makes its content even more alluring.

Please have a good Tuesday.

It would be hard to resist entering those gates...must be why they had to put up a sign!

I have been out of touch with the blog world for a couple of weeks to return and find all sorts of nice things posted! The gate looks like an invitation to me! :) Isn't it nice that you can see past it? :))
Lovely!
