1. Driving east into South Dakota, we visited two special places. One is a National Park and very well known and visited. Mount Rushmore.
"Mom! Why are those men up there on the mountain staring at me??"
2. Time with grandchildren. Our daughter-in-law brought PAL out to visit the cousins while we were with them. Oh, it was so much fun to watch them!
Who says that mamas can't play on the trampoline??
Do you have ANY IDEA how hard it is to get a NOT SILLY picture of four children??
4. Friends. I love how we have gotten to know our daughters' friends. We bumped in to two of them in the first two days we were there--it was like seeing old friends. And then we had breakfast with our young friend from our church in CA who took a job in the same company where my older daughter works! AND we met a new friend who we will be having lunch with 'next time'.
5. We found a new coffee shop! And their cinnamon rolls--oh my! We all met there the morning we left and enjoyed some time, coffee and breakfast before we had to say "good bye and we will see you again really soon, we promise."
See why my heart is bursting with thankfulness?

Sounds like you've been having a great time and yes sometimes blogging has to take a back seat.
So wonderful to have the cousins together. I love Custer Park....we were there in February, and it was still just beautiful! Tomorrow we [Jenny, Caitlynn and I] head to Michigan UP. Mary
Oh i love all the photos! Your grandchildren are darling and how fun to have them all together.
Mt Rushmore is on our bucket list for one day when we finally have money and time to drive west.
We are museum nerds too!! And national historical site nerds. We even hiked in Minute Man National Historic Park along with touring the grounds. It was so much fun!! ( right outside Boston proper)
Enjoy the rest of your trip!,
What a full and wonderful week, with great travels and sweet get-togethers! We saw Mt. Rushmore some 30+ years ago, but none of the other things. The coffee shop sounds wonderful!
What makes a road trip glorious...seeing your loved ones along the way. What a fabulous journey you are on. Are you home now? Anywho, Katie and I were going to stop at Rushmore on our trip taking her back to Camp LeJeune in 2014 but then the weather turned brutal and we wouldn't even be able to see those heads looking at us so we just continued down the highway in blizzard conditions. :) Love seeing all your grands together in one photo. Fun!
Your travels sound wonderful!
It sounds like a wonderful road trip! Seeing so many neat things and spending time with the grandkids. And crowning it off with cinnamon buns and coffee.
I visted Mount Rushmore in 1971 with my American aunt ! The heads still look the same !
