Since November is Thanksgiving month in the US, people tend to mention their gratitude more. But gratitude should be weekly, daily, moment by moment. Sometimes, I forget. Friday Fave Fives helps remind me to 'give thanks always'. Thanks to Susanne who has hosted us for YEARS! (follow the link to join in)
1. I just finished a zoom meeting a few minutes ago with friends-- we call ourselves the Art Girls because we started years ago as five of us who love making art and meeting together. Watercolor painting, weaving, knitting, sewing, spinning, acrylics. Since then three of us have moved away from our hometown, but we still keep in constant contact. I am so thankful for my Art Girls.
2. Our weather has turned. Winter has arrived. I am thankful for a warm house, warm clothes and cuddly blankets.
3. Earlier this week I was doing some research on aran sweater patterns (aran is cabled knit designs). Well, that led me to flip through some old Interweave Knit magazines I own. And that led me to a new fascinating project. Miniature mittens. These will adorn a wreath or garland soon. I'm loving this!
4. An unexpected piece of mail. And what was in that package? SEEDS! Nikkipolani knows my love language! Calendula seeds for next spring!
5. The Christmas tree is up and glowing. No decorations yet. I am thankful that my son Dr. Mike carried it up from the basement and The Professor put it together.
These are just five things in this week for which I am thankful. There were many more like our weekly meet up with T and S, encouraging discussions with friends, the beauty of transitioning seasons.
I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Love this list of blessings! not winter quite yet up here in eastern NY above the Catskills (they might be getting snow tonight down there!) but it does feel more like November now vs Sept and we finally got the rain!!
LOVE those little mittens
My little tree is up but no lights or ornaments yet. They come on Dec 1st
Happy Thanksgiving!!
...our tree is slated to go up after Thanksgiving. I wish you the best, be well.
Such a sweet bunch of blessings! Thank you for the reminder to be thankful every day. It's easy to forget those and that's why I love this FFF group.
My tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving or that weekend. I love the twinkling lights!
It's chilly here but no snow. I too love my cozy home and blankets and warm cups of tea.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Our "winter" arrived yesterday, with temps in the low 40's in the morning and not getting higher than the mid 60's. That is winter to us, although we will eventually get much colder, just not as cold as you will get, I'm sure! But it feels good to us and we are also thankful for a warm house. I hope it will stay this cool for Thanksgiving. I love your little mitten wreath idea! Those are so cute. How nice to meet with good friends via zoom or however you can. That is very special. No Christmas decorations here yet. Hopefully when our son comes home for Thanksgiving after the mess is cleaned up he can help us bring in the many tubs of decor from the shed so I can work on it over the weekend...but if not we'll figure it out. I'm not in a big hurry, even though I know Thanksgiving is later this year, so our pre-Christmas time is shorter. I guess I should keep that in mind. Anyway, enjoy your wintry days and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Those miniatures will be fun on a wreath! Woohoo for extra muscle around to haul stuff. I have plans for our Thanksgiving overnighters. What fun to stay connected with your Art girls. Have a great weekend!
Do you know, I'd already forgotten that I'd sent you those seeds! So glad they arrived. Happy calendula growing!
How fun to have creatives to gather with to share all the cool things you make. Like these mini mittens -- how ridiculously cute are these??
How fun to get together with other crafty people, even over Zoom. And to get seeds in the mail from a friend. It has been noticeably colder here, too. Those little mittens are SO cute. We just got our first artificial tree and I am hoping my husband can get to it soon.
I, too, have had lots of fun over the years making mini mittens and mini stockings for decorating. I was thinking of doing an advent set, but probably should start one for next year since I’m in the UP right now with no yarn stash available.
I usually have a real tree that Luke and the boys bring me. It will be later this year, so I’m not sure how it will all work out. There are times when artificial trees are a real boon! Mary
Oh, I enjoyed this post! I love the idea of your artists' zoom meetings. And the mittens for the wreath are delicious:) How cute that will be! Seeds in the mail from your friend are such a treat. I went to a gardening program a couple of weeks ago. It was an unusual time of year for such a thing, but winter is the best time for planning, so it makes sense. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Hello, our weather has made that change too, today we have a high of 20 degrees, with a wind.
Happy Thanksgiving, Carla
Mary, I have a book of knit patterns for a Nativity. Haven't made it yet...
Ah, the minature mittens are adorable. I think they would make the cutest garland. I hope you enjoy a wonderful day tomorrow! So much to give thanks for!!:)
