Yearly Pilgrimage, During Which a Disaster Occurred

Every October, the Ventura County Spinning and Weaving Guild, of which I am a new member, hosts an Open House. This Open House is not just any Open House. This event involves inviting vendors of knitting, spinning and weaving items to show their wares in one spot, during one morning. I borrowed The Professor's university staff parking permit and drove to the campus where the Open House was held.

I ohhed and ahhed, stroked and fondled, wandered and chatted. I walked away with most of my cash intact. I did purchase two hanks of handpainted silk/fine merino fiber.

I want so much to post photos of the Open House, the beautiful yarns, and brilliant fibers. But. Here is where disaster struck. Actually, it was my camera that struck. The floor. I dropped my bag. It just slipped out of my hand and the contents went 'plunk'. I heard it. Calamity of the worst kind.

I am waiting for The Professor to diagnosis the extent of the disaster. As far as I can see, the situation is hopeless. All the buttons work except the one that snaps pictures. Everything shows up on the display except whatever the camera is pointing at. If I can't push the shutter button and the display is nonfunctional, then, well, I can't take photos. We'll see what The Professor says.

In the meantime, I am consoling myself by spinning some silk/fine merino fiber.

Oh no Willow! I'm so sorry your camera broke! I did the exact same thing once with our very first digital camera. It just slide off my wrist. My husband thought it was because I still wanted to stick with our old film camera.

I hope you can fix or replace your camera quickly.

Such tragedy!! We can live without seeing the pictures (maybe), but can you live without your camera? I see a new one coming.
I have a larger Sony and a small pocket Panasonic. Like them both.
Glad you had a good day up til that point.

So you see, the cash you saved in your pocket was going to be needed very very soon. I'm sorry your camera went plunk. It's a sickening sound with electronics.

Noooo! This is like an artist breaking her brushes - or a chef breaking all her knives. You have such a gift for photography! Shall we do an online bake sale and raise the money for a new camera? I'll contribute a batch of rumballs.

Oh no!!!! That's your new camera as I recall. I hope it's fixable without too much expense. I know it's too late this time, but I have a thin camera strap and wear that if I'm out and about.

Love your little bunnies! I'll have to snoop and see what pattern you use :)

oh...so sorry to hear that :(
I know how unhappy it can be when the camera is not working. When mine died a few months ago, my husband bought a new one..to put the misery out..the family's misery, not mine ;) That's how the camera affected mine. Worry not, i hope it will be ok soon..and I remembered it was a new one. Hugs/M

Oh no! I'm a klutz and drop more things than I care to admit too - I know how the heart sinks when the "plunk" sound is heard. Sending positive thoughts in your direction!

That is so frustrating...as I wander around my yard taking fall photos, I hear your pain and loss. Our lives are entwined in our cameras.
I know the professor will come up with a solution shortly...Actually sometimes they take along.....time...

Well, there is the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new little camera! It's a funny thing though, I get very attached to mine and like to stick with what I have learnt how to use, for as many years as possible. One thing is for sure, it's something hard to live without! Ros

Gasp!! These things happen but it is disaster..no matter how you look at it! There are a lot of camera's that need homes...you can find your way to one!!

Awwww! Been there, done that:( It seems like cameras have become like cars too, where people can't work on them like they used to be able to, and it costs as much as the camera itself to have them worked on. Maybe you'll luck out though:)

Oh Willow I am so sorry to hear that. I know how a camera becomes part of your self expression and almost a "friend" on your adventures.

My original 5060 is still at the makers being fixed so I am playing with the new 5060. Can you send your camera to the makers or is there a person in the shop you bought it from who could take a look for you and at least let you know if it is fixable?

I hope your camera feels better soon! I broke my old one two days after the hubs gave it to me. So sad! Luckily, it was still functional, but the screen cracked. I felt so awful.

Wow! A pictureless post! We get to use our imagination.

Don't worry...you write well enough that we will still be quite entertained.

I am never far from my camera. I do hope yours can be repaired! The bunnies are too cute for words.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Blessings.
