Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
What do you do with an underworn sweater that doesn't fit but was knitted with beautiful yarn?
You pull the sweater apart, unraveling six large skeins of gorgeous denim colored wool,
so you can reknit it into another sweater that will fit better and show that beautiful yarn to better advantage? Recycle. Reuse. Reduce the stash.
See more photos and read more of the story HERE at my knitting blog.

Brilliant!!
What a GORGEOUS color--reminds me of Japanese fabric in brilliant indigo... Knitting blog...I'm going over! Reduce, re-use, recycle... that's the way to live. :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
I know of people who actually buy used sweaters at thrift stores and unravel them for the yarn. I think it's awesome that you can reuse your yarn and make something else that works better for you.
I think that color and yarn was worth every painful unravel - it's beautiful.
I would never have thought of that! What a brilliant idea! The yarn is so gorgeous! Can't wait to see how you recycle it! Love, Janine XO
Pretty color!
I really like your new header!!
All Things Tea...Yippee!
Well done you. Love the yarn such a deep colour. Can't wait to see what it transforms into.
It is shocking to me to see you unravel a sweater....but it must be a good idea! And, you'll have a new sweater soon!!
What a lovely week this is..I wish you were here!!
It does look like beautiful yarn and I love that color, Willow! I can't wait to see what you now make from it.
The colour is pretty Kak Willow...one day I will try to knit :) Happy weekend.
I do the same thing with my rug hooking. I search for discarded wool skirts, blazers...from yard sales or Goodwill or our local recycling center and then prepare the wool, dye it, and then cut it into strips to be used in my rugs. Happy Earth Day !
