Quiet Weeks Can Be Good

Friday's Fave Fives from Willow's Week.  Some weeks are just...there.  Some weeks have no exciting, defining events to mark their passing.  This was one of those weeks.  That's ok.  In fact, I appreciate such weeks.  As I pondered what this week's blessings have been, I realized this was a quiet week of quiet gratitude.

1.  This week marks the half way point of the school year!  I'm half done!  I enjoy teaching, but it's still 'a job'.  I love knowing I've accomplished half my goal.

2.  Do you have a pile of books lying around waiting to be read?  If you do, you're like me.  The fave part of this is that I have decided that this is the year I am going to focus on reading those semi-abandoned sadly ignored books.  I'm making a list (and checking it twice) and prioritizing the order in which I will read them.  Once I am sure I have located all the books, I'll post my list.

3.  Got my camera back!  Here's proof.  Photos of us practicing (yes, we are that old).

4.  Happy Birthday, Dr. Mike!  It was Son #2's birthday this week.  Although he is a long, long way away, we talked on the phone and were able to wish him a happy birthday and promise him that his gift would be waiting for him next time he comes to visit-- dinner at his fave pizza place.

5.  This week our small group from church started again.  The format is nine weeks with a short break--this time, we didn't meet during the busy Christmas season.  It's great to be back with our group of thirteen.

Bonus:  Rain!  Not wild, torrential rain like we usually get, but soft, misty rain like Oregon and Washington. [remember that song's lyrics---It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya, it pours, man, it pours].  And then we had a couple of warm sunny no coats no gloves no hats days.  As we were walking one evening, I commented on how 'cold' it was after sunset.  The Professor's response was, "If you say that to your three kids who live on the East Coast, we will be able to see the explosion all over the Eastern sky."  Take care, all of you in the snow covered places.  Be safe.  Be warm.

Cruising toward's summer break--that'd be a good way to look at your work-year. ;) Ah, summer... *sigh*... We're knee-deep in snow here, so summer appeals VERY much just now... LOL! HOORAY for getting your camera back--whew! Fun to see you with your singing group practicing! And fun with your church group getting together again for another year. Look forward to seeing what's on your reading list. I've sort of stopped doing reading lists, which is BIG because I'm a list'er. I just take each book as it come nowadays and like the freedom in that. Good with the rain there... Shall I send you some snow? It will melt to useful water: ;) Happy Days ((HUGS))

Yeah, I know what you mean about comments on "the cold" here. Wasn't that gentle rain so wonderful? I'm hoping we'll see more very soon. Congrats on reaching the half-way mark!

I love quiet weeks. I've been participating in a "TBR Challenge" the last couple of years that focuses on reading 12 books we already have on hand but haven't read yet. That works well for me - it gets some of them in the queue but leaves room for other reads as well.

Yay for halfway points!

So glad you got your camera back. And I'm also grateful for various means to touch base with loved ones far away, especially on special days.

Glad you got your camera back. I am trying to read 10 books this month. Got a pile of books to read. But that will keep me busy for awhile. Great post. Have a great day. Visiting from the link up.

LOL! Love your bonus! It cracks me up that in the fall when it gets down in the 60's we're 'freezing', but in the dead of winter when it hits the 60's we're shedding out coats! Amazing how our bodies acclimate.

Quiet days and quiet gratitude, so lovely. I'm also gathering books I've had forever for a reading pile for this year. Free reading, there's a favorite!

Your quiet week sounds lovely! Glad you got your camera back! I take my camera with me everywhere I go. I'd love to be able to read my so many waiting-to-be-read books :) but I need to take it easy because of my eye problem.

Have a blessed weekend!

Quiet weeks are good. Yes, I agree with you about having the school year half-way over. I always feel like the second semester goes a little easier than the first - teachers and students are more "in the groove." I have also made the goal of reading mostly books that I already have this year. Your small group at church sounds great! Hope you have another good week coming up!

Your friends look great and not that old at all! It's fun to be with old friends!
Wish I could hear the music you all worked together on.
Quiet weeks are a gift! Can our kids be that old? They are almost as old as us! :) I hope Mike's days was special!

Our oldest son's family just outside of NYC got over two feet of snow from the blizzard...and might take exception to my complaints of being cold out here, too :) One of the neat things about reading your faves is that they remind me of things I have enjoyed during the week, but kind of took for granted, like the joy of meeting with friends again after a time apart. Thanks for posting, Willow xx

I like to pick a book that catches my interest at the moment rather than planning for my main reading but for all the 'dip-in' books that I am currently interested in do mostly hand around.
