Where's Your Focus?

Well, this week included fires, riots, dissension...but I can't focus on those things.  I choose to put my focus on the good things in my life, the blessings and the things which make me grateful.  If I do nothing else here at Willow's Cottage blog during the week, I still post my Friday Fave Fives.  I have to.  I need to.  It blesses me.  I hope it blesses you, too.

1.  I have had three face to face meetings this week!  In person!  We (mostly) observed distancing.  But oh!  It is wonderful to really SEE people!  First was our small group from church.  Just the women.  For Sunday lunch.  It was in a back garden, under a jacaranda tree, next to the avocado orchard.

2.  Then my Bible Study small group met at our leader's home.  Just six of us.

3.  One afternoon, I told The Professor, "I miss your sister, and I want a burrito."  (Note that I said I miss her first.)  So we set up an early dinner at a park near her home.  We picked up the burritos and a taco for her then sat and chatted and laughed until the cold wind blew us back to our car and her to her home.

4.  (Notice a pattern here?)  We got to go to church on Sunday!  We wore masks while we sang, but that's ok.  It was wonderful!

5.  I took a total of two photos this week.  One was to verify I had ordered the correct book for a study I am doing.  But I liked the other picture.  How often do you find a hawk sitting in someone's front garden?  As we walked past on our daily walk, it hardly moved until it decided we were too scary and it flew into a nearby tree.  How I love seeing all the wildlife that lives around my neighborhood!  The photo is a bit blurry--but you can't be choosy with a hawk.

So this sums up Willow's Week.  Just another quiet Covid week.  Stay safe and well, my friends.  And focus on the blessings!

Hello! I love this post and totally agree with you about focus. This has been such a crazy couple of weeks, and I find that slowing down and focusing on what is in my control is best for me. I love your hawk picture. That is so cool! Have a good weekend!

It's been so nice seeing friends again and getting out a bit! I couldn't agree more about focusing on the good things. A friend tells me, "You'll find what you're looking for. If you look for the bad you'll find it, and if you look for good, it will be there." FFF sure helps with that. Neat hawk picture!

How fun to see some friends! We have not done that as yet though we have chatted with neighbors we come across in our walks. Yes, to focusing on the good things God blesses us with! Love the hawk. I'm surprised he posed for you.

What a neat photo of the hawk. Our church is starting back up next Sunday, but still connecting to Zoom for those uncomfortable with coming yet. Not sure what we'll do yet--we felt pretty secure since cases in our area were stable for a while, but lately there has been a sharp increase. Glad you had visits with friends and your sister-in-law.

Like you I've found it hard to focus on much lately. Hoping that now we can start looking for a house to move to I might feel a bit less aimless. I don't think we realised how important social contact is until we were forced to do without it. Video chats help but they're not the same. It must have been lovely to get back to church. Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

I"M with you on focusing on the BLESSINGS!! that's wonderful that you got to see people. I did too for a bit the last week. IT's been wonderful. Our church still can't meet in person yet due to being very large and too many at risk groups. There's no way you can be socially distant with 1200 people! Starting the end of the month though, dave and I plan on inviting a few people over to watch the online service with us as long as the covid numbers continue to be on the decline. We are starting PHASE 3 on Wednesday here in Albany County NY. YAY!!!!!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Great capture of the hawk! I think the wild life is getting a bit more brave since the humans have been scarce lately. I am going to church this Sunday! I’m looking forward to singing.

No, you can't be choosy with a hawk! It is good to know we can't control life in a fallen world. Hope you are having a good new week.
