This past week, it has been hot and humid here in Ohio. Too hot to walk most days until late evening. I have spent most of my time inside (more on that topic below). But there have been blessings along the way. Friday Fave Fives is how I share some of them each week. Susanne is our faithful host and she leads us by example. The link takes you to her blog and to where and how you can participate in FFF.
Here are mine.
1. I didn't mention this last week...my bad. Our Fifty-second wedding anniversary. Yes, you read that correctly. 52 years. I am thankful for a faithful husband who has always been through life with me. We were so young fifty-two years ago.
Many of our wedding photos were damaged when they were in storage during the years we lived in Indonesia, but a few escaped the rats.2. Back to current times. We grow old together. Dr. appointments become faves. The Professor had a very encouraging physical therapy assessment. I was able to schedule a quicker than usual appointment to find out why I am having allergic reactions (and to what). I am thankful that we have excellent insurance and options to help us with our health.
3. The Professor is improving and we were able to walk two miles one evening. And the one morning when the temperatures were bearable, we enjoyed a shorter walk with our Nurse Girl (younger daughter) and the two granddogs. (According to Nurse Girl, we are the grandpawrents)
4. As I mentioned above, the weather has been so hot and humid. Because of the testing I am undergoing for the allergies, I am not supposed to be exposed much to sun or get all sweaty. So mostly I have been sitting inside reading or knitting. I'm thankful I can stay cool(ish) in the house. And I don't have to weed the garden.
5. My view into the back garden is of potted plants on the patio, and just behind them in the garden bed, sunflowers! The sunflowers are so tall and blooming huge flowers. I love them. The birds love them. (photos taken in the evening after it cooled a bit)
I am thankful for my garden!

A solar light dragonfly among the wildflowers.

...next mouth, we celebrate our 57th!
Congratulations on celebrating your 52nd anniversary! That is a wonderful accomplishment, and I know you are both very thankful and blessed to have been able to live your lives together for so many years! We will celebrate our 56th next month, and I sometimes wonder how that is even possible? Aren't we still those same young, starry eyed people that said I do just a little while ago? The years sure do fly by quickly, don't they? But, like you, we are very grateful to the Lord for giving us these years together. We know we are in a small "club", as not too many are able to make it this far, whether because of health or other issues. Yes, it is definitely something to celebrate! I love your sunflowers! So pretty!! And your other flowers are lovely too. I hope your allergy testing gives you some answers and then what to do about it. Glad your hubby is feeling better too. Mine has been struggling with some issues too, but they can't figure it out and everything looks good on paper, so we will press ahead by faith. We know God is in control. Have a blessed and peaceful rest of your week.
Happy Anniversary!!! What a milestone! Here's to many more! :) Hope you stay cool and enjoy your weekend.
Happy #52! Love your coming down the aisle photo, so cute. Or is it up the aisle? Hope you get a good and quick answer on your allergy screening. Woohoo for the Professors progress.
Wow -- congrats on 52 years! I've been doing some archiving and even 10 years ago felt "young"!
Ha, grandpawrents! So nice some of your beloveds are just around the bend and able to join for whatever togetherness you dream up.
OH! what a lovely shot of that dragonfly!
Happy Anniversary! What a testimony of marriage you have modeled for the rest of us.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE sunflowers and really want to get them back for next year. Do I plant the seeds in the fall or spring??? hm..am gonna do some research. I used to have them but it's been years.
I'm glad hubby had a good PT eval and that you are being allergy tested. I found out in 2022 that (i already knew this) I'm allergic to Cats (most varieties anyways); not dogs (yes I am. Almost every dog i pet, i sneeze so..so much for allergy testing), grass (no i'm not. I literally LIE in the grass and am fine); birch trees (spring and of which i suspected and testing confirmed it); mice poop (HUH??? I'm never around it so....), dust. Everyone I know who has been allergy tested is allergic to dust hahah. Can't wait to find out your results! :)
HAPPY Weekend!!
I thought the dragonfly was real!! I would like one of those. Love your wedding photo, you look so glamorous! Did you do anything special to celebrate? We have been married 55 years! I can see what you need to be careful of the sun, you are so fair. As a newer follower, I am unaware of your husband's health diagnosis, can you give an update of what his health problem is?
I love your wedding pic and so glad it survived. I hope you come up with some answers for your allergies...I have been having regular hives for about 1 1/2 years and finally got help at the allergist just last week. Yes grateful for good insurance too.
Happy, happy anniversary! So glad the Professor is doing so well! I'm glad they were able to get you in for the allergy situation. We planted sunflowers for the first time this year. They're not my favorites (though they are my daughter-in-law's). But I enjoy them.
Your hair is so BEAUTIFUL!!!!! And I bet you had to do hardly anything to it.
What a beautiful young bride and groom. Congratulations! Your flowers are lovely.
Happy Anniversary! We celebrate 51 years next month. I am glad that beautiful picture of you two survived! I love your sunflowers!
