Some weeks are exciting and adventurous. Other weeks are quiet and boring. Sometimes, I appreciate boring. This week was one. But that's okay. I am sharing my Friday Fave Fives, five things that I have found to be blessings in my life this week. Susanne hosts us every week. You can find her blog HERE.
1. Well Read Mom monthly meeting. I am enjoying reading a book each month with my daughter-in-law. This month's book was a tome. And I struggled a bit with it. Hunchback of Notre Dame. But sitting and discussing the book with a dozen other women of all ages helped me see much more in the book. I am glad to be a part of this group. (And it's fun to visit home in different parts of the big city where most likely I would never venture.)
2. Our usual coffee time with T and S lasted three hours. I guess we had lots to discuss. And another lady joined us, a friend of all of us.
3. Two good walks with Nurse Girl and the dogs. The second one included PAL and her mom too. And we walked on a trail that has been closed for over a year for renovations. Being able to walk that trail made it extra fun.
4. Working on a couple of projects. I realized this week that I needed to order seeds for this year's gardens. So I pulled out my seed box and have been organizing and deciding what I need to order. Definitely red kale and some herbs...
5. I've been working on a couple of knitting projects that have challenged me. One is a pair of gloves for which I wrote the pattern. Part way through the second glove, I realized that I hadn't done a great job writing down part of the pattern. I think I have it fixed now and the gloves are almost finished. (photos to come when they're done) The other project is a shrug for a friend. No pattern. I'm copying the one she owns and loves to wear. I'm in the muddling middle of that. I do enjoy the challenge.
Bonus. Last night, the whole family enjoyed a yummy Chinese dinner at a local restaurant. It's near Younger Son's birthday (Dr Mike) who is still visiting over Christmas time, so we included that in our dinner celebration.
Bonus2. In the fall, I shared a few photos of Tall Boy because he is a high school senior and evidently it's a thing to do a weekly Senior photo on social media. Then I quit. So here is a picture of Tall Boy from many years ago. (2016)

...Linda, I think that a quiet week is a blessing!
Sounds like your quiet week was filled with lots of good gatherings! Hooray for your senior!
I love that you and your daughter-in-law are enjoying the book club together! What fun.
Your header looks so cozy and pretty! Making gloves must be so hard with all the fingers twists and turns!
You had me at ordering seeds....My favourite thing to do in the middle of a cold, dark winter is to order seeds. There is so. much hope for spring time and warmer weather.
I also had a quiet although busy week if that makes sense. Quiet in the sense that i had no where i HAD to be other than a new bank and church on Sunday. I am sitting in my dining room with my morning coffee watching snow finally coming down. We woke up to about a half inch and it's just lighly coming down but it's so pretty. Lots of cardinals and nuthatches today at the feeders.
He was tall even 10 years ago! Your grandson is good looking. Are the girls chasing him??
I love that you got out on a newly restored trail. YAY!!
Coffee dates are wonderful. I have one coming up next week and it's long overdue.
Happy Weekend, stay warm!
Quiet weeks are a blessing. Book clubs are a great way to acclimate to a new community. Winter days are perfect for long coffees, don’t you think?
I’m still working on a Christmas afghan that I started in October. Ah, well! It will be brand new for this Christmas! I can’t wait to see the gloves you are knitting. I’m trying to imagine how you will be doing the individual fingers? That would be way beyond my skill level, but it sounds fascinating.
It sounds like a great winter week. All the fun things, plus the family birthday! Mary
Sounds like a great week to me. Enjoy the weekend.
I like your header! I got some yarn today to make some bookmarks and maybe knit a simple bookmark. We all need some quiet time! Enjoy your Sunday!
Sounds like a pretty nice quiet week to me. Walks and book club meeting and knitting special things for special people...and a nice picture of your "Tall Boy" when he wasn't so tall yet! Nice!!!! Winter blessings!
I enjoy quiet boring weeks! LOL! I read Hunchback of Notre Dame several years ago and remember that I enjoyed it. When you said you were challenged by your knitting and was working on a pair of gloves I was impressed but then you said you wrote the pattern and I was extremely impressed! I wish I could knit gloves/mittens. Since I developed tremors I haven't been knitting at all. I hope you have a great week!
Sometimes those quiet weeks are the best. Glad you had one and with bonuses, too!
I know about those hours-long-coffee/meal outings. They are so good. Looking forward to seeing your knitting challenges!
Love love love the brilliant green in Tall Boy's photo and his contrasting shirt.
