Even though we didn't have much time for relaxation while we were in Los Angeles last week, we spent as much time as we could at the beach which is both Nurse Girl's and my happy place.
I might have taken a few photos...
Manhattan Beach! First, we enjoyed breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien cafe. It was just as delicious as it was back when we lived in the area.
Eleanor gave the coffee five stars.

Then, we drove a bit north to Marina Del Rey (just north of LAX, Los Angeles airport). Lunch at Sharky's Wood Fired Mexican Grill, my favorite restaurant in CA.
A long walk along the marina and Ballona Creek in Playa Del Rey.
The next day, we were able to drive down to Huntington Beach to meet Nurse Girl's bestie from the days when they all lived in San Diego.
Most people's idea of Southern California: sand, palm trees and sea birds.
When you think of Southern California, do you imagine SNOW? Yes there was snow on the mountains.

Los Angeles is freeways, high rise buildings, graffiti and all other things urban.
But for me, Los Angeles is beaches.

...this beach bum is jealous.
Very jealous!
Since we have never been in California and never will be, I love this! Especially the ones with the birds wheeling around. And the one with the beautiful reflection in the water. I have never seen a lifeguard truck either. But the pretty flowers, what are they? I never knew flowers like this could grow on a beach.
I would agree the best part of LA to roam are the beaches!
We love to go to HB which is only about 40 miles from me. I haven't been to the LA beaches in awhile. I think the last one was Manhattan beach. Winter is a good time to go because the beaches are not crowded. It's on reason we don't go to the beach to often, the traffic is awful. Thanks for sharing your pictures!
Aww that must have been very enjoyable for you. I don't get to the ocean much anymore which is ironic since I grew up less than 2 miles from the beach. Oh well. Beautiful pictures.
Beautiful photos! I am glad Eleanor approved of the coffee. That was really cute.
Lovely beaches! Looks like a very enjoyable time! I'm sure if I visited there I would like to see the beaches better than any part of the city! It's funny, we live about an hour's drive from the beaches here, but we have not been in ages. There's just too much traffice between us to get there and hubby doesn't like to drive in traffic at all. I would love to go walking on the beach again someday. Thank you for sharing your lovely photos.
I'm glad you had some beach time and hope your granddaughter is doing ok.
Now I am jaelous ! I am locked in, outside it's cold, grey and it snows ! and you lucky girl are at the beach, blue water and blue sky ! You certainly enjoyed it !
I love so much about California, the beaches are for sure on the top of the list.
