1. Several mornings I have sat quietly on my back patio and sipped my coffee in the quiet. This quote states my attitude well: "A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset. Start by realizing it is a blessing, a gift." (anonymous)
2. For the last several years before I retired, I taught writing and composition. It was my favorite job. So I enjoyed spending a couple of afternoons this week coaching a young woman who is taking a college composition and writing course and was feeling overwhelmed. She's much more confident now, and I am pleased that I could encourage her (and she's so much fun to interact with).
3. Wednesday was filled with friends and family and fun. We met T and S and L (our usual coffee buddies) for coffee, pastries and conversation. Then we picked up Tall Boy and his girlfriend and drove them to a local private lake park so they could spend the afternoon swimming and enjoying the sunny weather. About six pm, we retrieved them and took them to our local brewery for Trivia game night with his mom and friends.
4. Trivia Night was fun. There were five teams competing. The host often offers unusual and sometimes obscure questions. Some of them we knew. Some we didn't. We ended up in second place. We had so much fun!
5. As I mentioned earlier, the weather was hot and humid this week. I am thankful for air conditioning!
It was a wonderful week. So many blessings. So much fun!

...it has been so hot this week, I will try not to complain about the cold this winter.
It sure has felt like mid-July instead of early June here in eastern NY! I too am grateful for central air!
Love that you all did a trivia night. and congrats on getting into 2nd place!
Yay for coffee dates and lake time, too
How wonderful you could use your teaching skills and help the college girl! I love that.
Happy Weekend!
Second place is something to brag about! It is almost 100 here! I guess before air conditioning, a lot of people just died!
You are great hands on grandparents!!
Sounds like a really nice week! I bet the trivia game was fun! I remember when we used to play "Trivial Pursuit". I think we still have that game, but I bet so much is outdated now it wouldn't make sense to younger people. Yes, we are thankful for the AC too. It's been in the 90's here with high humidity. To answer your friend Ginny above, I grew up in Florida w/o AC. We had lots of fans, open windows, and wore less clothes and went barefoot! LOL. But NO one had AC back then, so we didn't know anything different. Not even in the cars, school, or church! We survived and lived to tell about it, but wouldn't want to go back! LOL. Oh, how nice of you to help the college girl with her writing class. I didn't realize that you had taught that. Maybe you should give us an "online" course of questions about writing to challenge us! Hope you have a lovely summer! It's always good to hear about your favorite fives!
It's summer all over. We hit 103 today with single digit humidity so it's bearable. I can handle the heat but not the humidity.
Summer weather here too. It was 95 today and will go down on Sunday. The trivia game sounds like fun. I sure could have used your help when I was in college! Enjoy your weekend and stay cool!
The trivia night sounds like fun! I don't know how well I'd do. It depends on the category. We used to watch Jeopardy all the time, and even in the categories I knew well, they'd manage to come up with something obscure.
I like to start the morning quietly, too. I try to remember to thank the Lord for another day first thing.
I imagine the girl you helped with her course was very grateful! I am thankful for AC, too.
It seems that you had a nice week ! Here it was cold the whole week, we hope for some warm weather for the next week !
Love the idea of the trivia game and you came in second! Stay cool!
Love it that you get to use your teaching skill to help out a young woman.
What a coincidence! I went with some friends to a brewery for trivia night, too. (I'm bad at trivia and don't tolerate alcohol well, but....)
We, too, are thankful for air conditioning. We have a small window of high 70s before plunging into 90s and 100s.
