Happy Friday!
Thanks to Susanne for always hosting Friday's Fave Five.
Here is Willow's Week in five favorite blessings
1. There has been knitting. I finally finished my grey gloves--I wove in A.L.L. the ends. The weather has been cooling down enough that I may be able to wear them soon.
2. Speaking of weather, we Southern Californians are all excited because we are getting RAIN! This is the kind of rain we've been getting for the past year--just sprinkles. We're hoping for some real rain this weekend.
3. Here is a quiz. What is this?
(Hint--I grew this.)
Give up? It's COTTON. My first harvest from the cotton trees I planted this spring. I'm growing three plants in pots and so far this fall I've gotten three bolls. It's not much, but it's a start.
4. My friend had a birthday this week. We celebrated by having a painting party. My first acrylic painting ever.
5. It has been a busy month for The Professor. In addition to his normal teaching schedule, he has been doing his job of lighting designer (and hanger of lights) for the university's performing arts department. This week, he wrapped up his part and handed it over to the stage manager, and the play opened Wednesday night. I have my hubby back.
A quote I found this week: Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

I remember seeing fields of cotton when I lived in Arizona. Is that going to be your next spinning challenge? The new fall leaves are very nice for a change....one of the reasons we enjoy seasonal variety. My prettiest maple has already lost her leaves, but there are still a few on the other two. Looks like you will have fun with your painting! Mary
That is such a great quote...I've seen that before either on FB or pinterest or somewhere. SO true!!
YAY for having your hubby back. Sounds like he is quite the helpful prof, though and I'm sure the performing arts dept appreciates all his work!
WOW..I was gonna guess milkweed....lol...how fun to grow your own cotton!
That's a great painting for your first! I've only been to a paint and sip place once but it was loads of fun. Happy bday to your friend.
I hope you enjoy a much needed rainy weekend. We received our first bit of snow yesterday. NO one was amused. But it will quickly melt....after all this is upstate NY! the weather changes quickly around here.
Happy Weekend!
Love the quote. What a budding artist you are! Glad you had fun. I did guess cotton before I saw your answer. Haha, at first I thought you were showing us the one leaf you had to pick up until I read about the raindrops. We have a yard waste bin plus 4 extra trash bins that will be full so we had to buy those leaf bags from Home Depot for the rest of the leaves...such is life up here in the land of maple trees and other leaf dropping trees.
I did recognize the cotton! I grew up in Southeast Texas and we used to pass fields of it. Hope your plants do well for you! Hope you get some more rain, too. The painting party sounds like such a neat idea! Glad you have your hubby back. :-)
I grew up in north Alabama and knew it was cotton immediately. :-) Beautiful plants!
How fun to have a painting party. That seems to be quite the rage. I want to have one or go to one. I like your painting. Do you have a spot for it.
Cotton - I knew that before you told us. Are you going to spin it? Maybe not spin, but do something with it using needles. While I might know what cotton is, I am not knowledgeable about how to use it.
Hurray on getting your gloves done. They look warm and cozy.
Have a great week.
Another great week for you! Good job on the gloves!
How will you use the cotton? Will the three plants hold over another year?
I am so glad to hear you have had some real rain. I live in New England and we are very dry this year...nowhere near what you have been experiencing. It's very frightening. Love your gloves.
Very fun post, hope you get all the rain you need.

I'm glad you've got your hubby back. I hope the play goes well. I'm impressed with your gloves. I enjoy knitting but I stick to simple things.
I love that you are growing your own cotton plant. Seems like a great thing for someone so interested in fiber arts!
I also love that went to a painting party. I went to my first one some months back and had a blast.
I was unable to Friday's Fave Five recently because of ... well ... life. I hope to be back soon.
So Sue from Welcome Heart is a college friend of yours? You're so right, it is a small world even in cyberspace. I love Sue and her topic of hospitality ... something for which I need coaching. I love the idea of being hospitable but have trouble making it work in this hectic life of mine.
Im in So Cal too...wasnt the rain fabulous this week. I stood out in it.
Love the gloves...I have a feeling the only time I will wear mine is if we go into the mountains this winter
And the Painting Party sounds like such fun!
Have a great weekend

I've been wanting to try a painting party for awhile. Looks like a lot of fun! You're growing your own cotton! What a neat thing. I knew what it was because one of the decor stores in town had wreaths made out of those cotton balls. They were quite popular. Hope you get lots of lovely rain that you need.
So glad to hear that your husband's extra duties are complete and he can spend more time with you again. Yea for rain - we could sure use some here in AZ. That painting party looks like tons of fun! I love those nice gloves you knitted. Hope you have a great week!
I guessed it was cotton - although I've never seen it before. what will you do with it? Something creative I've no doubt!
I've heard of the painting parties - a very nice idea for a birthday. I enjoy watercolor.
Roger loves to follow California's weather and knows all your rainfall stats :)
Your gloves are lovely!
Hope that rain keeps falling for you!!
Love the gloves ♥
