Already December

I'm back!  It's December!  It's Friday and that means Friday Fave Fives.

I missed blogging anything the last two weeks.  That's because I have been gone from Willow's Cottage again.  The week before Thanksgiving, I flew to the east coast to spend time with my Daughter #2 and her family.

1.   Daughter #1 came for the holiday, too.  On Friday, #optoutside day, we took the cousins for a hike.  I love sharing my love of the outdoors with my grandchildren.  I hope they are learning to love it, too.

2.  I've been using my ninja decluttering and packing skills to help Daughter #2 prepare for their upcoming move to the same area where Daughter #1 lives.  I love that she appreciates my help.  And I love that they are both excited to be living near each other.

3.  One day we took some time off and drove to Annapolis for lunch at the harbor.  I love exploring places, and I do love Annapolis!

4.  I knitted all the yarn I brought with me, so I have been raiding my daughter's stash.  I love that she loves to knit and is willing to share (less for her to move, right?).

5.  Have you been hearing and reading about the horrible fires in Southern California?  It's my county, Ventura County, that's burning.  I have been monitoring the situation as well as possible and The Professor who is home is keeping me up to date.  I hate the destruction, but it encourages me to see how we are all gathering around to help--everyone from the firefighters and first responders to neighbors and strangers.  Obviously, the fave is NOT the fires.  It's the outpouring of love and care.

A bit of mid-Atlantic, late autumn beauty to enjoy.

Always fun to see/hear about your family times, Willow! Sooo wonderful your daughters will be living closer to each other. Sisters together...wow! :) how lovely the Mid-Atlantic region is...my home territory! :) Oh, but it is a terribly sad thing what is happening with all the fires... it breaks the heart. Keeping you, and all, in my prayers... ((BIG HUGS))

It's so horrible to see the images of the devastation in Southern California right now. Hope all stays calm in your corner. Hope The Getty stays safe from the Skirball fire, too. Yikes. How nice that daughters will be closer together. Stay safe on those roads!

I'm awestruck by the power of those fires in your area. Keeping you all in my prayers.

Sounds like a lovely trip! It's neat your daughters will be able to live close to each other. I've been sad to hear about the fires and hope and pray they can be put out soon.

that's great that you did the optoutside...so did my oldest girl and I when we were in southern MA! It was simply GORGEOUS out...no coat needed!!

Now as I type this we are getting our first snow of the 2017/2018 school year. It's so pretty but honestly i hope it doesn't last. it can come back from xmas eve and then melt again on the 26th. ha!

one of the members of my small group has close friends in the Ventura County area and we prayed for that entire So Cal area on Tuesday evening. It is devastating. We are specifically praying for the firefighters, communities and for RAIN to come down for you.

Happy weekend!!

What a wonderful trip! And I'm very glad to hear that you are all staying safe up there - I've been wondering. We're keeping an eye on our own local fires here; we haven't had to evacuate, but there were a tense of couple of days there, and we hosted a friend who did have to leave her home. So far, though, things seems to be coming under control with much less destruction than you are facing up there. I, too, have felt so grateful for the outpouring of love and help that I have seen here.

I am so glad your home has been spared from the fires. There has been so much destruction this yer with the major storms, earthquakes and fires. Your trip sounds wonderful. How fantastic your daughters will be near each other.
