Finding Faves in Cold Weather

We are still with our daughter in 'not Southern California' this week.  The weather has fluctuated dramatically between almost pleasant temperatures and frigid ice and snow.  I'm not a fan of cold winter weather, but I can choose to find joy, gratitude and thankfulness.  Click over to Susanne's blog and join in celebrating gratitude with Friday Fave Fives.

1.  A couple of days it warmed up enough so we could walk on paved paths without slipping on icy patches.  One of the walks was at the local arboretum.  Now we have walked these paths in every season.  (And, yep, I forgot my camera.)

2.  Another day, we walked on a bike path along a creek.  It wasn't a long walk but it was enough to keep us active.

3.  Lunches with our daughter and her coworker.  Twice.  Good conversations ranging from healthy eating habits to theology and everything in between.

4.  Picking up The New Big Boy from school, something we seldom have the privilege to do.  We even met his teacher and some of the administration people.  Good connections.

5.  It makes us happy to know that the next generations are keeping up the habit of visiting the library regularly.  I love the statue on the top of the arch in the local library parking lot.

We fly home tomorrow.  Goodbye, snow.  Hello, home!

I love the book arch! Also love libraries, though I must say that our small-town Alma library was WAY better than our (fairly big) city library where I now live. Boy do I miss it! This is the time for those warmer temps. Enjoy. I'm glad the disasters missed you. Mary

Love that arch! Hope you have a safe and pleasant trip home. We're having a long cold snap here, too - a couple days respite, but supposed to be down to single digits again at night. I know you'll be glad to get back to warm CA.

It sounds like you'll be home by the time you read this, so I hope your trip was uneventful. That is a very cool sculpture with the arch made of books. Still warm here, and no snow. I'm hearing it's going to be an El Nina? Nino? winter, so very mild for us.

Oh I LOVE the arch!! That is awesome. I do love my library too and am there just about every week in the winter and spring months. I just love getting books!!

well you can say you survived the East Coast cold!!

It's a whopping 16 degrees here today (Sunday) in eastern NY and Friday it was 61!!! very odd.

I hope you have a safe flight back.

Wow that looks cold ! I heard that even in California it's cooler then usual. We have rain and wind, no snowflake in sight except sometimes in the Ardennes.
