Busy Week, Still Blessed

Every week, I plan to post a couple of extra times here at Willow's Cottage, and every week, Thursday evening arrives, and I realize that I haven't done it.  Lately, my life has been so busy that I'm just glad I have Friday Fave Fives to 'force' me to stop, focus, look back, and actually write something and remember what has blessed me this week.

1.  Yeah.  The house sale.  Nope. Nothing yet.  But one thing that has been a blessing is that our house is staying clean and organized.  In fact, it was important this Monday night.  On Sunday, we all suddenly realized that the couple who usually hosts our sermon based small group on Monday evening was out of town and so...I volunteered our house.  Another sweet thing is that the others all arranged to bring snacks, so I didn't have to do that part of the hosting.

2.  AND we had such a great time together Monday night catching up and laughing and praying together.  We are so blessed by our group of fifteen friends.

3.  On Sunday after church, we invited our new Pastor of Youth and Discipleship and his wife to have lunch with us.  We have a few connections with them already (like our niece working with her) and it was great getting to know them better.  I'm thankful for that time.

4.  I'm doing two other Bible studies this semester, one on Titus and the other on 1st, 2nd and 3rd John.  These are all short books in the New Testament, but they're loaded with lots of good teaching.  I'm thankful I have time and opportunity to do these studies.

5.  The Professor and I have started reading through another series of murder mysteries.  This time it's novels written by Ngaio Marsh, a New Zealand  author of the mid Twentieth Century (1895-1982).  Her references and word use have led me on a few rabbit trails (like what is an Adam fireplace???) and that's almost as much fun as trying to decipher who is the murderer.

Thanks to all of you who mentioned our plans to sell our house.  Yes, we are moving out of the area.  It will be hard to leave our wonderful city which is so close to my beloved beach and ocean and to leave our church and friends and The Professor's family.  But we know it's the right thing to do to move closer to our children and grandchildren.  Updates will come as we know them.  And thank you to everyone who reads and comments here at Willow's Cottage.  I truly love and value each one of you.

And a couple of beach photos to enjoy.

I love your beach photos!!
And it is a huge blessing to be part of good small groups and Bible studies. 1-3 John are excellent books to study!!

To answer your question: yes I'm very frustrated that i can't walk well let alone hike. It's he best time of year here in NYS but my chiro says once the acute stage is past i can begin to exercise a little bit and hopefully do a flat woods hike come October.

Many blessings on the house sale! I've actually added you to my personal prayer list. 😀

Sounds like a real good week. Ahh, yes, I miss being able to make a short drive to the beach. Thankfully if I need to see water I can make a short drive to the Columbia river...

Oh wow! I know you love that area, and it will be hard to leave. But it will be nice to be closer to kids and grandkids, too, so that's exciting. I hope your house sells soon--it's hard to keep waiting for a buyer. Glad the small group situation worked out so well. Some of those smaller NT books are SO packed. It will be nice to dig into them with others.

I always enjoy your beach photos.
So sorry you haven't heard anything about a house sale yet. I love
how you look at the bright side in that your home stays clean and organized.

It will be a blessing to being near your children and grandchildren.
I love living in California.
But I think that when I retire, I will move to West Virginia to be near my grandchildren.

You certainly are getting lots of time in God's word this semester.
These other two studies, are they with a group or are you doing it on your own?

All right you had me at Adam fireplace.
I had to look it up. T
his mystery series sounds intriguing.
What book number are you on?
How fun that you and your husband read them together.

Have a great week, Willow.

We will sell our house too next year, it's too big for the two of us and then we have not the strength anymore to keep the yard and a gardener is always expensive. I want a nice apartment in our little city where we can walk then to most of the interesting things and use the car only to longer ways. When I think I have to empty a house with 50 years of stuff in there I get mad !

I moved at the beginning of the summer....it was a lot! But it’s so worth it in the end.

How fun that you and your hubby read the same books and can enjoy them together. I, too, love your beach photos and will miss them but how exciting that you are moving closer to your family!

So many things to be thankful for! Thank you for the beach photos. And I understand how it would be hard to leave your beloved coast, but also how strong the draw to be near family is - wishing you luck during the transition. (PS, yes - my daughter has some MAJOR weather adjusting to do, moving from SoCal to Seattle!!)

It's bound to be a big upheaval but being nearer to family will definitely be a blessing!
