Hello, February!

I am just not ready for February.  It has come too soon.  Do you feel like that, too?  This week flew by!  And here it is Friday and I didn't write any posts.  But I always make sure I write my Friday Fave Fives.  It's important to remember to be thankful every day and every week. (Follow the FFF link to read others' faves and join in.)

1.  February 1st.  On January 1st, the Professor and I drove to Ventura Harbor and walked around it.  On February 1st, we met our friends for a walk and coffee, and at their suggestion, we walked at the harbor.  There might be a pattern emerging.  March 1st?

2.  It was cold(ish) this week where I live.  Yeah, I know.  Southern Californians are wimps.  But 'for us', it was cold.  I'm thankful for extra blankets, warm jackets, hats and gloves!

3.  I have a Kindle.  For a long time, I resisted reading books digitally.  But there has been a series of cozy murder mysteries that we have wanted to read but couldn't find paper copies; so The Professor convinced me that the Los Angeles City Library (yes, we are card carrying members) would loan them to us and I could read them on my Kindle.  So I've been reading through the whole thirty-two books in the series on my Kindle.  I guess I'm thankful for having one (although I still prefer 'real' books.

4.  The decorative pear trees are in bloom!

5.  The New Boy turned TWELVE this week!  It's hard to believe he is growing up so fast.  I am thankful for this grandson!  And he actually answers my texts.  How could this little guy be twelve!?!

Happy Birthday to your grandson. My oldest grandson will be 14 in May. My oldest granddaughter just turned 13. Yes, time does go by very quickly. I also have a Kindle, but like you, I prefer reading traditional paper and ink books. It is nice to have a Kindle however, when a traditional book isn't available. Have a wonderful weekend!

Aw.....happy birthday to your grand boy. He's so cute in that toddler pic!! Time flies doesn't it and i for one am HAPPY it is February because a week from today begins our week of Winter Recess where all the schools are closed. At least here in eastern NY. Some in central and upstate stay open.

Yay for getting a walk in with friends.

Dave has a kindle he uses a lot as well as a nook. I have some books downloaded on my iPad as well as a couple of cookbooks but i MUCH prefer going to our wonderful town library and getting real hard covered books. I love the smell, the feel, and yeah I'm a book geek.
But there's a couple Christian fiction books on my iPad for reading when i go away and don't want to pack heavy books.
Enjoy your mysteries. It's a good weekend to read here.....temp is 14 F this morning although the sky is a bright blue and sunny with our 2 inches of snow.

Happy weeekend!

It took me a while to get used to the Kindle (I don't have a Kindle, but I have their app on my iPad mini). But now I enjoy it. Plus you can often find Kindle classics and Christian fiction for 79 cents to $1.99. It's a lot easier to give new authors a try for those prices. Plus I like the convenience of having so many books available when we travel instead of trying to make sure I packed enough to last the trip.

I'm glad for warm clothes and coverings, too. Nice to see some blooms! Our poor plants here are so confused with cold then warm then cold again temperatures. I know what you mean about grandkids growing up so fast--ours turns 6 in a few months. Seems like he was just born.

I know what you mean about the Kindle (I have the app). I much prefer real books but the Kindle has its own advantages - like cheap deals on Amazon, lightweight when going on holiday etc. Happy birthday to your grandson. Yes they grow too quickly. If January went fast I'm sure February will seem even quicker being a shorter month! I don't like to be cold either so I'm glad of a warm coat we bought last year when we went to Montreal and Vermont. It definitely keeps me warm enough here in the UK lol.

Twelve! Yikes. Time flies when you have grandkids! Nice that you can text. So...what is this mystery series that you enjoy?
Hope you have a good 2nd week of February!

I love that he responds to your texts - that is the best! (It's also why my mom finally caved and got a smart phone - so she could text with her grandkids.) Now I wish I knew what cozy mystery series you're reading (although I'm a Nook, rather than Kindle, user :) ).

Happy Birthday to your grandson. My, 12 already? Seems he was just a little guy yesterday that you used to talk about.

I, so far, have avoided the digital readers. But that is a huge lot of books in a series. Probably a good thing they were available on the kindle. Stay warm. :)

Since I have my Kindle I prefer to read books with it and don't like paper books anymore and it is so practical during holidays you can take a whole library with you ! My grandson is meanwhile 9, as you say time flies by it's terrible !
