Please don't think that Dublin is all empty abandoned buildings. It's a vibrant and thriving city. On our first full day in Ireland, we visited an estate house turned shopping center and then the area around it. Powerscourt House was built between 1771 and 1774 for the 3rd Viscount of Powerscourt. The family lived in Powerscourt, Enniskerry, County Wicklow, but they would spend 'The Season' in Dublin. So the house was built for them to live and entertain during that time. Now it is a 'shopping court'.
Many elegant details are still in evidence.
There was a knit shop!
Our day's walking tour focused on food. We enjoyed sampling foods at various shops. Cheese. Bread. Desserts. One cafe even made me a delicious vegan cheese sandwich. Yum!
And she helped me finish all the desserts.
Are you bored yet? Come back and see All. The. Photos of random buildings in Dublin.
