Off To Ireland: Part 4

All buckled up and ready to leave Dublin and head for the country!  Our first day out of Dublin took us south and east away from the North Sea.

No houses.  Just green fields.

And cows.

Our first stop of the day was at a farm owned by an American woman who inherited her grandmother's property, Zwartbles Farm.  She raises sheep. And alpacas.

Guard alpacas, guarding the sheep and the gate.

Could I live here, surrounded by this garden?  Oh yes!

After we waved good-bye to our hostess and this beautiful place, we drove on to Kilkenny where we checked in to our hotel and set out to explore.

That big building in the background?  It's Kilkenny Castle!

There were so many beautiful churches!

We explored the town's pubs.

And listened to Irish music.

And walked past, in, and out of, all the small out of the way shops, alleys and buildings.

Finally, we were ready to walk back across the river to the hotel and settle in for the night.

Random things you see in the store windows...

And in gardens.

...my paternal family is from Ireland, but I don't know where. Thanks for taking me along to see the sights. The sun may not shine always, but it's a beautiful place.

Love the alpaca gate guards!! I think it would be wonderful to inherit an ancestor's farm in Ireland, except I don't have any such ancestors that I know of. Oh well, guess I'll stay put here in SoCal . . . ;-)

So much to enjoy around every corner. The guards at the gate are great. That could be a line in a children's book. Put it on the G page. Don't mind me, I'm on a roll. I do enjoy seeing what you saw whilst traveling abroad!

So much green in that lovely garden. With some part time help, I could live with that garden, too!

Those are cheery stained glass windows in contrast with those glowering skies. How fun you got to hear an Irish music jam session.

Ireland is such a beautiful country ! I have made a tour together with "Expats", Americans, Canadians, Australians, I was the only European ! What was so touching was that all these people were running to all cemeteries we passed to find the name of their ancestors who had immigrated long time ago. The trouble was so many names were similar !
