January First Week Faves

Always remember how much you have to grateful for.

It's Friday night.  Time to share my Friday Fave Fives-- the five blessings from this past week.  (click on the link to join us in sharing what we are thankful for.  Here are mine:

1.  Nurse Girl and I made it home from SoCal in time to celebrate Grandson' Warrior Boy's birthday.  He turned sixteen!!

Many years ago...

Two years ago...

2.  Warmer weather.  We've had a respite from the snow and ice.  Because it has been a bit less frigid, we have been able to be out two afternoons to take walks.

3.  I have been working on this one thousand piece puzzle I received for Christmas for a few days.  It wasn't easy.  But I finally finished it!

4.  We hadn't seen our friends T and S for three weeks.  Our weekly coffee time lasted us three hours!  We had so much to catch up on!  I am so thankful for good friends.

5.  Family photos!  It has been a couple of years since we were all together as a family and could have pictures taken.  Fortunately, the photographer was able to reschedule us for today after we had to cancel our planned photo shoot when Nurse Girl and I flew out to SoCal.  I can't wait to see the results!

What have you been grateful for this first full week of January 2026?

Beautiful photos of the trees against the sky. Happy Birthday Mr 16! I just bought the same puzzle for a friend— she’s a book lover and loves puzzles, too :)

I hope the photos turn out well. The two of us have not been able to finish a 1,000 piece puzzle. I love this one of the book shop.

That puzzle looks challenging!
Your grandson is handsome and Happy #16 to him!!
I've also loved the milder temps and have been on some good POWER walks and then a very slushy muddy hike yesterday. Didn't take pics as I was trying to navigate the trail and it was HARD. There were 2 of us and we ended up on a deer trail vs the real one. and then it started raining. sigh. But at least we got in a little over 2 miles. We were the only humans in this particular nature preserve.
It's wonderful getting together with friends for coffee and a catch up. I have one of those coming up next week!
ENJOY the weekend!

I love your winter tree pics. So beautiful. Happy birthday to your grandson! Good for you on finishing the puzzle. I received a wood puzzle cut in weird shapes. For this non-puzzler I am being thrown off the deep end but I'm determined to do it. Yay for getting family pics! We haven't had them for years. I should have thought to get some done while everyone was here.

Happy birthday to your handsome grandson! We've enjoyed some warmer weather, too, though it's supposed to be cold again next week. I'm glad you were able to have a long visit with your friends. We wanted to get more than a selfie family photo, too. It didn't work out this time because we all took turns getting sick. Maybe next time! Happy 2026!

Happy birthday to your lovely grandson. Glad you made it home in time for his birthday and that the photo shoot got rescheduled. Your photos are lovely and that looks like a challenging puzzle - just the sort I like. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
