Happy Friday! It's already time to post Friday Fave Fives. I've barely been home long enough to catch my breath! Here are Five more highlights from our trip to New Mexico and Arizona and back.
1. Spending more days with our son in Santa Fe will always be a fave. One afternoon we spend exploring here:
There were Churro sheep and weaving looms so I was in fiber heaven!
2. Since Los Alamos is close by, of course we had to visit the science museum there. After all, I had science-physics-computer guys in the car with me.
3. And more history. Bandelier National Monument is a fascinating historical treasure. Ancient cliff dwellings!
And kivas and villages.
And people displaying and selling woven rugs!
4. While Dr. Mike worked, we visited a couple of places in Santa Fe. We avoided the plaza because it was very crowded with 'tourists'. So we took another short hike, this time up the hill to Cross of the Martyrs.
Beautiful view over the top of Santa Fe.
5. On our way home we stopped in to spend the night with our PAL! I had knitted two snuggly shawls for her and her mom. PAL agreed to model hers for me.
How about if I lie down on the sofa and ottoman to show the shawl's snuggly quality?
And no visit would be complete without a photo of the three of us! How about if we all sit on the floor?
Hmmm, Bapa is pretty tall!
That sums up Willow's Week and Five Faves although there was So. Much. More! But I had to choose Five.
NOTE: I know I promised to post the recipe for Indonesian peanut sauce--I will do that this week. Pinky Finger Promise!

A Month of Memories
It's September, traditionally the month of new school years. For me, it seems like September is more like New Year, the beginning, than is January. That's probably because I count my life in 'school years'. Either I was in school, my children or husband was in school, or I was teaching school.
During the month of September, I have decided to look back on my summer months and choose one photo a day to remind me of this summer past.

Two More Days
We've made it to Oklahoma City. That's two long days of driving. A mom, a grandma, two kids.
If you belong to The Professor's family, you know about Winslow, Arizona and Route 66.
So we had to stop and take photos for Bapa.
Flagstaff. Winslow. Gallup. Albuquerque.

Standin' in Corner in Winslow, Arizona
The Southwest has a beauty of its own. I love the desert, the rugged mountains, the iron red cliffs of Arizona and New Mexico.
Overnighting in Albuquerque, we visited family to introduce Zoe Grace and Liam in person to great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Another wonderful blessing.
There is just something about Oklahoma. I love that state. Maybe it's because it is greener than the Texas Panhandle. Maybe it's because that song keeps cycling around in my head. O--KLAHOMA, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain...
Even the tumbling down falling apart abandoned barns are picturesque.

Road Trip! Day 2
Breakfast in Flagstaff, Arizona. Macy's Euro Cafe. The. Best. Coffee. The vegan waffle and the granola were also excellent. And the company? Perfect--Son #1 The Chaplain and Wonderful Daughter-in-Law.
Back on the road. Highway 40 East with forays along Route 66.
Standin' on the corner in Winslow, Arizona
Five hundred miles today. We drove through basin and range country, mesa lands.
Rio Puerco Bridge, built in 1933.
Then, east of Albuquerque, we encountered strong winds and a dust storm.
The wind is still blowing, but we are tucked in safely at our night's lodging.
