Five Birthday Faves

Hello from sheltered Willow's Cottage!  Yes, I'm in California.  That means I'm home.  Being forced encouraged to stay home is not a really hard thing for this somewhat introverted person.  We have food and water, books and more books.  Right now, we're good.  I want to be an encourager--here are five things that I am thankful for this week, my FRIDAY FAVE FIVES.

Usually, my birthday is celebrated all over the world with parades and green glitter.  This year, none of that happened, but this birthday is certainly one I will remember.

1.  We went shopping at two grocery stores.  Fortunately the lines weren't long and the stores had everything on our list.  I am thankful for food.

2.  We made one more stop:  for a birthday pie.  I didn't choose the St. Patrick's Day cookies or cupcakes.  I wanted pie.  Thank you, Professor, for letting me stop and get it.  And thank you, Marie Callender's, for being open.

3.  Other than that one day of grocery shopping, we have been home.  We have taken two walks every day which has been encouraging--sunshine, clouds, flowers, bunny rabbits.

4.  My son and his family sent me birthday gifts which are coming slowly via Amazon delivery.  So far, I have received THREE books (YAY! I have time to read!) and a beautiful skein of merino wool sock yarn.  Note the color:  hummingbird.  PAL was so excited to tell me she chose it because it is 'hummingbird'.  I know what I'm going to be doing the next few days.  All other knitting projects will be put on hold while I knit my hummingbird socks.

5.  Peace.  Trust.  I am focusing on some Bible verses.  Joshua 1:9. Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.  Psalm 28:7.  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.

In these distressing days, where are you finding thankfulness, peace and comfort?

Lots of encouragement from the family of God. I'm thankful for our blogging community from around the world, too. Glad you have a comfortable place with lovely walking opportunities close by! Stay safe and keep the Faith!

I'm also meditating on Scriptures that speak of peace and wherein our joy and strength come from. Christ alone!

My oldest girl, dave and i. Are all working from home. I as an assistant teacher only need to do some on line trainings and assist with planning lessons that parents can do from home.

I was able to find most items on my grocery list. Praise Jesus!!

I too am talking daily walks!! We were told ( us hikers who belong to the ADK Club) to avoid coming up to the mountains as there are only 5 confirmed cases up there ( in different counties!) and that we should be hiking locally only. So I'm checking out new to me Nature preserves down here in the Albany/Saratoga' area.

That color is so pretty ( the yarn!)

Happy weekend and stay safe.

What beautiful yarn! Good choice. Happy belated birthday to you. You celebration pie looks delicious. I'm focusing on bible verses too and making sure I get away from the media in all it's forms for most of the day and evenings.

Belated happy birthday! What a beautiful color and name for yarn. I don't mind the being at home part of all this. It's a little less quiet with everybody at home, though. :-)Though I didn't find everything on my list at the stores, we're ok on provisions. Many stores now are putting limits on how many one can by of some items, so hopefully that will stop the hoarding.

I am so thankful for encouragement from God's Word.

Happy Birthday !!! I sure you will remember this one ! It's a very special time. We are now locked up the second week and apparently it was efficient because sinc two days we didn't have any deaths ! But poor Italy is badly hit and I hope all States will do the confinement ! Trump didn't realize the danger.

Happy Birthday! Amazon has been a real life line in the UK. A lot of little rescues rely on sacks of dog food donations but with people being locked down in the UK, these can't be dropped of by them. Amazon have been brilliant delivering where the public can't. Our lock down was an utter shambles with little time for the most vulnerable to prepare.

I'm thankful that we have ways of communicating like skype and online. We may be isolated but we aren't alone. It's the elderly I worry about who may not have those facilities.

I take comfort in having bought extras for the Winter in case of deep snow and being cut off, and Brexit inflation. They are vital now.

Making things and looking out for the vulnerable around me brings me peace. I am doing what I can, for who I can.
