Is it really April?? Wow. This fast pace (on one hand) is making my head spin. The slow pace of being at home (on the other hand) is also making me lose track of days. It seems like our world is full of Bad News/Good News. I am trying to focus on the Good News part. Here are my Bad News Good News Friday Fave Fives.
1. Bad News. We are fighting a pandemic. Good News. We're all working on flattening the curve.
2. Bad News. We can't meet with friends and coworkers. Good News. You tube Sunday morning church services. Zoom small groups. Skype calls with some of my besties.
3. Bad News. Some people can't get out to shop. Good News. Our community, neighborhood, church are banding together (metaphorically speaking) to make sure people have what they need. Example: I just now had FRESH STRAWBERRIES dropped off on my door step. Bliss!!
4. Bad News. Our health workers in the county are struggling to have enough masks. Good News: Some people in our community have banded together to make masks. Personal detail here: my friend (the same one who dropped off those strawberries) is providing fabric to make the masks. I think people are going through their stashes. Some people are cutting the fabric. Others are delivering it. After burrowing around in our storage unit, we found the box where my sewing machine is packed. I brought it home, set it up, and made fifteen masks yesterday--almost done; I just have the ties to sew on. Also, we've ordered fabric from a store (drive by store pick up) so I can make masks for ourselves since our county is starting to require everyone to wear masks out in public areas.
5. Bad News. No. I jut can't do any more bad news. Good News. The Professor and I are safe and well. We have plenty of food to eat. We are feeling the love of our community and are able to give back some of that love.
How are you handling the Bad News and Good News?

I love the masks! I am going to try my hand at making some soon. We are starting to where masks when we go out. My husband was given some at his doctor's office and I found a forgotten box (not sure when or why I bought them) but they are coming in handy now! Glad you had a good week and are staying safe and well!
Look after yourself. We do not have to wear masks(Wales) but if on the rare occasion I have to go out I wear a mask.Better safe than sorry.
Take care.
We are just taking every day as a privilege, and bumbling along.
Lovely masks. Yes these times are hard but there are positives to be found and we will get through this. Stay well.
Love your masks and boy do I miss those fresh strawberries from the fields! What a sweet delivery. Glad the two of you are safe!
Glad you are safe and you sound positive.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed this week due to having to go out and still work. No masks anywhere here in NY. At all!! I'm basically down to just shopping at Hannaford and Target and getting gas. We don't wear masks because we have NONE. So wemwash our hands and trust Godmthat we will be ok. Husband has gone no where except, his doc appt and drugstore. Oldestmhas been in the house workingmform14'days. Youngest and i went out to buy gas and ice cream. She drove caus i am wiped out from creating 13 learning kits this week. Monday i start delivering them. I miss my students and we haven't heard from 2 of them so we are getting very worried. Keep in mind they are all children ages 3-5 years old with developmental levels of 12 mo-4'yrs and some are in domestic violence situations. I cant even begin to think about trying to help neighbors because of work and trying to spring clean and lead a small group. And forget about groceries. I'm going very early morning on Sunday and praying i find toilet paper. And none of us teachers are getting spring break this Easter due to some public and private schools not doing, their jobs of getting online learning set up. So the rest of us have to suffer. This is a downer of a comment!! Sorry!!!
Please do pray as i have to deliver the kits to 11 different apts/homes with no mask and mail 2 asmthe chiodren live too far away in different counties for work to be willing to send me, yet they need their work.
But i did share some blessings in my FFF post so that's a plus!!
We've been asked to wear masks when out in public, too. I love your bad news/good news format. There's always something good to find and that's what I choose to hang onto. Be safe!
I'm glad you're doing well and are well-supplied! My husband and son wanted me to make masks for them, as they're doing all the shopping now. But I decided I should make them for the rest of us, too, even though we're staying in--I'm hearing we might have to wear them for a while. Can you share what pattern you're using? Yours look different from mine.
Those masks are really neat. I saw a Pinterest post today with a no sew mask that was doable for those of us who don't have sewing machines, or don't want to hand sew. It involves folding a piece of fabric a couple of times and then looping it through ponytail bands that then become the bands that hook over the ears. The strawberries are beautiful. A very nice gift. It's good to see a post where positive things are brought to light. We need that in these uncertain days. God bless you and the Professor. Hugs, Nancy P.S. Thanks for your kind and encouraging comments. ♥ (To make a heart just press down on the number lock of your number keypad, then hold down the ALT key, press the number 3 on the number keypad, and then release the ALT key.) ♥ Hugs, Nancy
I'm glad to hear that you are safe and well. I, too, have been trying to focus at least as much on the many things I am grateful for - a home, work I can do remotely, my husband and daughters safe and well with me, plenty of food, a neighborhood where I can safely walk my dog (wearing a mask!), and so on. We hauled out the sewing machine ourselves - our results aren't as neat and beautiful as yours, though! Take care.
