Third Fave Fives in May

Friday Fave Fives for this third Friday in May.

1.  You know that excitement when you spot the tiny little green shoot popping up in the garden?  Snap peas!  Nasturtiums!  Zinnias!  Kale!  Yay!  The seeds are doing their thing.

2.  Rain.  Rain.  And more rain.  At least I don't have to water or worry about drought.  "I will give you rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit."

3.  Our granddaughter is a freshman in high school.  She is on the track team--running the 200 meter race and high jumping.  She's doing great!  And tomorrow we'll be watching her--the only girl from her school who qualified.  Yay!

4.  My sister-in-law has been my friend since high school, well before she married my brother.  We live far far away from each other, but we are committed to talking or texting as much as we can.  I value this relationship deeply and am so thankful my brother married my bff.

5.  Zooming with Younger Son so he could update us on what he is doing and some of his plans for the rest of the year.  Just seeing his face on the screen made me so happy.

Seeds popping up are always a miracle and so satisfying to see.

I’m so happy that oldest granddaughter is doing so well. You must be proud of her. Mary

Good morning, Willow! Aw, rain! It is always forecast, but we get very little, the south western mountains that envelop us divert it it seems Today we meet out for lunch with the Ministry of Joy, actually it is our senior group at church! But I love the name Ministry of Joy and hope we can share joy especially with those of us who are a decade or two beyond me! I wish I had a veg garden, but where we live 1. the lay of the land just doesn't suit .. up hill and rocky. 2. if we were in dire straits and wanting to grow our food, we are so visible to neighbors and those who pass by I am afraid there would be midnight marauders so why bother? Or is that my excuse not for getting out on my hands and knees! So we lay in a goodly supply of canned goods. YUCK! Anyway I didn't want to come here and complain! I know exactly what you mean about zooming with our family. I get to FaceTime with our daughter and the grand every end of the week to hear all about their week's endeavors. It makes my week. Yes, so today we meet friends and the senior group for dinner at one of the more upscale restaurants. Hubs can't wait.l They have a delicious fried oyster platter for lunch. I usually go fishy too, and get fish and chips. It is one of the best around! Hope you have another grand week upcoming and God bless!!

Although rain is a blessing, sometimes it feels like a bummer. But it's great for naps, reading and cups of tea.

Congrats to your granddaughter for qualifying! What an honor!

I love that your SIL is your BFF. I can say the same thing about mine! It makes family functions so much fun!

What a world of change gardening must be for you. But green new shoots are exciting whatever the hardiness zone.

Congrats to your granddaughter! Hope she has a great time competing.

Seeing new growth is one of my favorite parts of spring. We're supposed to get a ton of rain this week. I am hoping it is not as much as forecast. But it is nice not to have to water things. Hope your granddaughter had a great race! How fun to have a friend become a family member. I love being able to see far-away loved ones when we talk to them.

After reading your comment about the Isle of Wight and the Beatles song, I had to come over and catch up with you! Oh, your trip must have been wonderful!! I've never been to England. Your pictures are just spectacular. And, so fun to see one from the Isle of Wight:)

Congratulations to your Granddaughter! The photo of the sea gives me a calm feeling. Love that. I love new growth, too. I have two perennials -- one in a container -- and one in the ground that I planted last year. For awhile I was fearful that I had killed them off, but then I saw those beautiful green shoots. Aaaaah. So satisfying. :) Praise be to the Lord! Have a great week!

How fun to be able to watch your granddaughter compete! Glad you are getting that rain. We could use a little bit here too. It's been so dry. Exciting to see all that lovely new growth! It's neat that your best friend became your sis in law.
