Advent's Third Week

Coming up is the third weekend of Advent.  The focus is on LOVE.

Join me and others in finding the LOVE in this week, five things that makes us thankful.  Here are  my Friday Fave Fives (follow the link to read more).

1.  It has been a week since I had the surgery on my hand.  The big bandage is off and I am improving daily.  I am even able to drive short distances.  I am thankful for living in a time and place where surgeries are available.

2.  This week, it was The Professor's turn to have a medical procedure.  Results were positive, for which we were thankful (and again, I was able to drive him).

3.  On Sunday evening, The Professor and I and Older Daughter watched I Heard the Bells in a local theatre.  It was really really good, well done.  It shows a glimpse into the life of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  If it is being shown any place near you, I would recommend it to you.

4.  We love our coffee dates with our two friends.  This week, we met at a fairly new coffee house near their home.  The building is an old barn that has been remodeled.  And they just received their new tables and chairs which makes it intimate and cozy.  I am thankful for our friends and for fun places to visit.

5.  The weather was cooperating this week, so The Professor and I drove out to a section of the local trails that we hadn't walked.  We logged almost four miles in mostly country scenery and almost perfect late autumn weather.  What a LOVELY time to be out in nature.

May you find much JOY in this week!

I am so happy for you that the hand surgery is over and I pray it will heal well and quickly. I know how difficult it is to be one-handed for a while! Nice that your Professor is willing to do the dishes! I am still getting acquainted with you, and realized that you live in Newark, OH. I may have already told you this before, I don't remember...my grandparents lived near Newark in Frazeysburg many years ago when I was a very little girl. I don't have many memories from there because I was so young, but I do remember they had a big old farmhouse, and the upstairs bedroom had a door looking out to the front of the house. There may have been a little porch rooftop stoop there. Anyway, my sister and I had a tea party up in that room. That's all I can remember. They moved to Westerville, OH after that, and that is the house I remember more. So whenever I see "Newark", I think of that house of my grandparents and it brings back a sweet memory from the cobwebs of my mind. Sorry to write so much...Thank you for visiting my blog. You said your Professor was putting up a train under your tree this year. I hope you will share pictures when it is done. I would love to see it. Have a blessed and wonderful Advent and Christmas season.

Pretty photos of your walk. I'm glad that you are mending from your hand surgery and for a good report for your husband.

I haven't been to an honest-to-goodness coffee shop in quite a while. I need to put that on my list.

So glad you are healing well from your surgery and your husband's procedure went well, too. I know the story behind "I Heard the Bells..."--I'd love to see the movie. What a fun place for a coffee date.

So much good news! Glad you are healing well enough to resume some duties (but not dishwashing... sad, I know). Love the idea of fun new cozy places to visit with good friends.

Four miles in great weather and serene scenery sounds idyllic.
