As I promised, I want to show you two of the books I found at the Glendale, Arizona library book sale!
I am so so excited to finally own a Kaffe Fassett book. Passionate Patchwork is a quilting book and I have a (not so) secret dream of learning to quilt one of these days. Isn't this a fantastic treasure? Especially since I paid $5.00 for it!
To add to my collection of Newberry Award books, I bought The Winter Room by Gary Paulsen. The Winter Room is not an award book, but it is an Honor Book and I hope to add the honor books to my collection of Newberry Award Books.--$1.00
Because I like children's fantasy, I decided to purchase Dealing With Dragons, Book One of The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede.--$.50
The Princess found a set of the Anne of Green Gables books and she was thrilled because, like me, she has a special love of children's literature.
Kiti and The Princess gave me my birthday gifts: Books!
Another Newberry Award Book from Kiti:
Long before Chaplain Dan and The Princess knew each other, she and I attended a lecture by Bodie Thoene. We are both fans of Thoene's Zion Chronicles and Zion Covenant series, so she bought me Books 7, 8, and 9 (London Refrain, Paris Encore and Dunkirk Crescendo) to complete the Covenant series.
Yippee! Lots of books to read! I can't wait!

Wonderful treasures! Welcome home and Friday will be great...
I LOVE the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler... it is one of my very favorites! Have fun reading!! :)
Such a deal! Enjoy, enjoy. Maybe you can get someone to read to you while you spin by the ocean. My idea of heaven!
I love a good trip to the library. Especially when some are for keeps!
The patchwork book looks great!
I was also just browsing some of your older posts and i noticed your photos of the Liquidambar Tree, well im very pleased that i came across them as i was just thinking to myself this morning 'i wonder what those trees are called with the balls hanging from them'! Ive seen them around here alot lately and ive been wondering what they are. i thought they could have possibly been conker trees but now i think not! However i just did a google search and i cant find out if they grow here in the uk. Any ideas?

I love library book sales! Next week is our annual AAUW book sale and it's pretty close to as good a the library sale. The patchwork book cover is awesome! I loved From the Mixed Up Files when I was a kid, I haven't read it in years.
Congrats on the finds!
You have some treasures there! The Hatchet by Paulsen, was one of the all time favourite books in our school. Especially for boys and even non-reading boys. I always knew when the Gr 6 teacher was reading it as a read-aloud. I would have boys who never came to the library in asking for their own copy.
Quilting is also a secret dream of mine. I love the colours.
Kaffe Fasset is a wonderful colorist.
He also designed super needlepoint pillow kits - of which I have done about eight.
You will love all he does.
If you like children's fantasy, perhaps you'd like to be a critic of my latest effort?
e-mail me
All best wishes
Hi Willow....those are some wonderful treasures indeed! Boede Thoene is a favorite of mine too, especially the two series you mentioned. Did you attend the lecture she gave at GBC?
Enjoy your reading....you have many pleasurable hours ahead with those books.
You know I love those book sales.
Willow,
These are all wonderful books. I am also a fan of Brodie Thoene and other Christian fiction writers as well. I also enjoy Gilbert Morris and many others that write for Bethany House Publishers.
I have lots of books here that are like brand new and am not sure what to do with them. Maybe I will have a giveaway and pass some along for others to enjoy.
Thanks for your comments on my autism post. I'm glad you enjoyed it and also seeing the photos of the babies.
Blessings,
Mary
Hey, I like your first project about Passionate Patchwork. It's too funny.
I've already purchased a kit and will be making my first quilt this fall.
In fact my friend and I have committed to helping each other.
Happy reading.
Are you back again?
When you were in Phoenix all I thought of was the Phoenix Suns.
I'm a great fan of Steve Nash and follow closely.
have a wonderful time reading all those wonderful books, have a fantastic weekend and jumpa lagi :)
glad you had a great time. me too. I also hope to start quilting in the near future. happy reading.
I love children's literature too. I had a goal of reading all of the Newbery Award winners to my children as they were growing up. My favorites were the early ones; in fact, I could have done without many of the more recent ones. We skipped a lot of those. We made it through at least thirty of them though.
Thats a beautiful pile of reading, i am especially interested in the Kaffe Fassett quilting book so will see if i can borrow one from the library here. Jane x
