Saturday Pot Pourri Post

Sometimes life just goes by so fast and things happen at such a speed that I can't keep up. That is how the past two weeks have been. I'm sure that driving for two days through the desert, staying with The Princess and then with Kiti and The New Boy (who is truly wonderful but hasn't figured out how to sleep more than a few hours at a stretch) and drinking caffeine in wonderful coffee shops every day, and then having MamaMia and The Marine here for three days, and going back to kindergarten, all had the effect of making me sleep deprived and a little disoriented. Wonderful times! But, still, it's good to have a Saturday to sleep in a little and then do laundry and paper filing, and go to the Farmers Market for lettuce, cucumbers, and garlic.

And so, I am using the weekend to 'allow my soul to catch up with my body'.

It seems that stresses come in bunches. One stress stem in the bunch is that our water heater decided to start leaking this week. By the time we discovered it and identified the source of the water leakage, the damage had been done to areas of our pergo flooring and sub flooring. The plumber will not be able to replace the water heater until early in the week, so The Professor turned off the hot water and drained the tank. Not having hot water is an inconvenience but not a disaster to us. We lived for the entire decade of the 1980s without hot water, indeed part of the time without running water of any kind (except in the river that flowed past our bush house). So today our laundry was washed in all cold water, and our dishes were washed and rinsed in water heated on the stove. The biggest inconvenience is bathing. But thankfully we have wonderful friends who allowed us to run over to the Blueberry Ranch and use their shower, and chat for a while over a dish of fresh blueberries.

Another stem in the stress bunch is the malfunctioning of my digital camera. The problem is actually the interface between my camera and my laptop since both the laptop and the camera upload work just fine independently of each other. So at this point I can't upload the photos from my camera to my computer and therefore I can't post photos of the Weasley Sweater I knitted for The New Boy. The Professor is also the resident Technical Advisor and Trouble Shooter and he has volunteered to look into the matter for me.

In the matter of number of steps taken this week that I am willing to post--one day I walked nearly 13,500 steps (Wednesday), another day (Thursday) I logged only 3,500 steps but we spent almost an hour in the swimming pool and MamaMia and I had a treading water contest, so that should count for something. Friday we drove down Highway 1 through Malibu and Santa Monica to have dinner with Mike, MamaMia and The Marine in Manhattan Beach and after dinner we drove back home the same way, so other than kindergarten steps, I don't have much to report. Saturday? See first paragraph above.

I don't want you to go away photoless, so here is a sweet picture of Our Boy!

And his Mommy and Auntie

And his Adoring Nana.

Oh Willow,
I was actually thinking about writing about stress this morning also, when I new thought came....
I hear you, about your trip, and the short naps. I'm totally a wreck after I've had them all in for one meal....My soul needs more and more down time and I really love blogging because so many of us seem to be at the right place.

Guess what??? I saw Mama Mia this weekend also and laughed and laughed and laughed and also some tears.....
Don't forget about DOT, DOT, Dot...
Keep smiling through the hard times...

Greetings Willow! Wow, I'm proud of you for posting anything at all, what with all those stess stems forming that bunch you described!

Your little grandson is so sweet when he's sleeping! Cute shirt too...."I'm new here"...I love it!

May this week see the resolution of some of those problems, and also provide some times of rest and refreshment for you.
