An Eventful Week

Some weeks just float past.  Other weeks are marked with surprising events.  This week was one of the latter.  Even in the midst of crazy weeks, there are things to be grateful for.  We just have to look for them.  And it is even better when you share them to encourage others, too.  That's why I join Friday Fave Fives every week. (follow the link for more encouragement)

1.  We were able to meet two times this week with a very-long-time-ago friend who was in our area overnight because he was a guest speaker at a Perspectives class.  Marv and his wife were in our mission candidate school with us and we also served with them in Indonesia for several years.  And our kids all grew up together as only Third Culture Kids do.  Oh, it was great to just talk about all those old days and then find out when is happening in the lives of his family.

2.  We found the perfect little cafe for breakfast with our friend.  Cafe Creekside.  And yes, it is located right on the bank of the creek.  We will definitely be returning!

3.  On Tuesday evening, I joined Younger Daughter on a lovely walk with her dog Sawyer.  The weather was mild and only a bit windy.  It was great.

4.  UNTIL... I tripped and fell on the edge of the paved path.  Yep.  I did it.  I broke my ankle.  Nope.  That's not the fave.  The fave is that as soon as she realized my ankle was injured, my daughter went in to total nurse mode.  And then a couple walking the trail arrived and helped transport me to the parking lot where older daughter was waiting with her car to drive me to the ER.  (Where was The Professor?  with the grandsons at Trail Life.  He arrived asap.)

5.  The best part of this difficult thing is that the break could have been much worse.  Yes, I was able to get in for an appointment with the specialist Wednesday morning, and he confirmed that the fracture is more like a 'crack', so I am wearing a brace not a cast.  And I'm already actually 'walking' without the crutches.  I am so thankful!

And the daffodils are blooming all over!

So sorry to hear that you broke your ankle. So glad that your daughter was close at hand and knew what to do. I hope you heal up quickly. It's great that you were able to get together with your friends this past week. I hope you have a good weekend.

Oh Linda!! Im so sorry to hear about your ankle but it sounds like the Lord really protected you and gave you people to help along the way! I love when He does that!! I will pray for a speedy recovery.

LOVE that photo of you and hubby and long time friend and that cafe looks like a place Dave and I would love. I enjoy finding local cafes and near water is an added bonus!

YAy for spring blooms!! Not here yet but i'm guessing the crocuses will be up any day now.

Well I'm glad you weren't out on your own when you had that fall and were able to get treatment quickly but how annoying for you. Hope you're taking it easy so that it heals quickly. Lovely photo of you with your friend. Love the daffodils. Have a good weekend.

I’m so sorry to hear of the ankle. It’s good that it was not a severe break, and absolutely wonderful to have a daughter/nurse there with you. Lovely daffodils. They are so cheerful! Mary

Oh wow! I am so sorry about the fall and the crack/break in your ankle. But so glad it wasn't worse. I'm thankful people stopped to help.

How good to meet with old friends like that and catch up. I like the sound of Cafe Creekside.

Oh, that sure takes the wind out of your sails, doesn't it? I'm so glad the break wasn't worse, and that you had plenty of people to attend to you. But still, I'm so sorry it happened.

The Cafe sounds like a cozy spot, and how nice to meet up with an old friend!

Ao sorry to hear you broke your ankle. I am at risk too since I have osteoporosis. Good that your had help and are managing. Make sure you rest and give it time to heal.

Lots of ways God provided care for you through this "crack" -- does this not-as-back break mean faster healing? I hope so.

Your breakfast with a good friend sounds delightful. I knew a Marv and Ruth back in the day, but don't think it's your Marv.

Oh no, I hope that ankle was not too painful! Ouch. So glad you with your daughter and not by yourself. The cafe looks like a lovely little place for breakfast. How nice that you could share that time with an old friend.

Sounds like you were having such a lovely time until that nasty "trip". So wonderful your daughter was with you and knew just what to do. Praying for your healing and not too much pain. The visit previous to that with your "old friends" sounds wonderful. What a blessing! We just had visitors ourselves from some dear "old friends" from our early ministry days in Ohio. We always have such a wonderful time with them and it was great catching up with them and their family stories, etc. as well. Isn't it wonderful to have friends that knew us "when" and shared in the beautiful things God was doing in our lives back then? That's a kind of bond that not many people get to experience, and one that we treasure for certain. Praying for your ankle to mend quickly. Take care dear friend.
