Autumn is Falling

Happy Friday (night)!  Life threw us another snow ball today.  During the rain/thunder/wind storm, we lost power (see #2).  That really messed up my schedule for writing my Friday Fave Fives.  But here I am, finally, to share my Five blessings from this first full week of Autumn.

1.  I do hope that everyone who is living on the east coast of the US is safe, dry and snug in their homes.  Because I have a sister-cousin in Florida, I have been watching the progress of the nasty weather very closely.  Good news there is that she let me know that she is fine and her house is intact.

2.  As I mentioned above, our electricity went out this afternoon and was out for several hours.  I am thankful that we weren't worried.  We have flashlights, oil lamps and candles.  And we had peanut butter sandwiches for dinner.  And now our power is back on again, and we are very thankful for that.

3.  We have a new mattress!  We wanted to buy a new one and then we found out that someone needed a bed.  So, we offered our old mattress to them and bought a new one for us.  It was delivered Tuesday.  I am thankful for a good dependable store near us that would deliver and place the bed on its frame for us.

4.  I have been going through all my old photos which are hanging around on my laptop and enjoying the reminiscing.  And deleting the ones I don't want.  Actually, I am finally ready to move them to a flash drive.  And then I will be able to move all the photos from my trip to Ireland, England and Wales onto my computer and write blog posts about it.  The fave in this is that I am learning all the tech stuff.

5.  Autumn decor.  (no photos yet)  I love autumn, and I love having fall decorations, especially flowers (like last week).  I bought two gorgeous mums and they are sitting on my front porch now smiling at everyone who walks or drives past the house.  I am thankful for the beauty of autumn.

Happy Fall!  Happy Friday!

Hi Willow, I am glad your electricity came back quickly. We have battery operated candles ready to go when electricity goes out. I have been going through pictures too. I love your fall pictures. Our nights are getting cooler. Have a great weekend!

Happy Autumn to you. You have some lovely color in your corner. Glad the electricity was restored quickly. Our water (well) is connected to electricity so that is another layer of challenge when the power goes out!! We are still in the midst of jetlag brain fog here...

Sounds like you have prepared well for the occasional loss of power.

How convenient that you were able to help out someone who needed a mattress just in time to put your new one to use.

Ah, yes, the photo files shuffle. This is why I prefer to use a desktop with a sizable hard drive and hook ups to external drives.

So thankful to hear that your electric was only off a short time. That can be such an inconvenience! A new mattress is a nice thing! Hurray for the local store that delivered and set up for you! Awesome to hear that your sister-cousin is safe from the storm. I love fall decorations. Not halloween but fall. I'll have a few pictures to share on my journal entry come Monday. I hope you have a nice weekend!

Happy Autumn to you! I am glad your power came back on fairly quickly. It is no fun being without it in any season. So many are suffering now in the aftermath of Helene without power or any hope of restoration for a long time, so my heart really goes out to them. I love your photos. The one of the yellow sweet gum tree leaf looks just like one I shared last week! Funny that we have similar trees/leaves here in Florida with the same color at the same time! Maybe we aren't so different after all!

I'm glad the power wasn't off for long and you were equipped to deal with it. My sisters in SC have been without power for over 24 hours now. We have stuff to deal with power outages, but I still don't like them. :) I'm thankful the Lord spared us this time. Thankfully, the temperatures are pretty moderate most places that have been affected, so it's not too big a problem not to have heat or AC. We have a fan with a rechargeable battery, so I can have it blowing in my face if I am trying to sleep without power.

A new mattress is a blessing, as are people who will set it up for you.

I just put my fall decor up today. It feels more like fall now!

I need to deal with old photos, too. Yay for learning new tech!

It’s lovely to have the fall colors moving in. My maples are not turning yet, but my firebush has begun turning. Your walks are going to be in vivid color soon. Things are looking up for fall here in the front of the house: grandson mowed and I did some major trimming.
That’s good the electricity wasn’t out too long. Mary

I'm glad your sister/cousin came through the storms okay. Pretty frightening for some. I need to go through a lot of my photos and rearrange some. I have so many. I can't wait to see some of your vacation pictures! I'm glad that you didn't have to be without power for too terribly long!

Putting all the photos from my computer onto a flash drive is brilliant. I might work on that project. Hooray for a new mattress. I love a new one (although we have only had two new ones since we married. I guess we make them last a long time!?) but it does take a bit to "break them just right"! Have a wonderful day -
