Friday Fave Five

There are two reasons I look forward to Friday. It's my first 'Saturday' as I work Monday through Thursday. And then I get to post my Fave Fives.
1. Birthday dinner for Son #2 on Sunday afternoon. He asked for Swedish meatballs and rice, asparagus and broccoli. He also got green salad and ice cream. He stayed for several hours and we all played a vocabulary guessing game which you can find at http://www.freerice.com/.
2. Although the wind has been "mariah" strong, the sunshine is back. Our temperatures have been ranging from 42F to 62F in the mornings. Thursday was our warmest day with temperatures in the mid70s. It's lovely to walk in January and February. The weather is pleasant but not too warm. The sycamore trees are bare and we can see the bird nests high up near the tops of the trees.

3. On Tuesdays I tutor in a Ventura neighborhood very near the beach. I've discovered a park and beach called Marina Park in the area, and the past two Tuesdays I've walked there either before or after tutoring. The park is on the north side of the Ventura Channel and Harbor. We have visited the south side often as it is a more commercial area. The north side of the channel is all residential and much quieter.
4. I have been picking and eating the mandarin oranges from the tree on the side of our house and taking some of the fruit in to school and sharing. Just doing my part to increase Vitamin C intake and prevent more colds and flu in the classrooms.

5. Flylady is doing a Super Fling Boogie this week and the next two weeks. I've been motivated to fling old clothes from my closet and old magazines I was sure I'd always want and reread (not). It feels great to recycle and pass clothes on to bless someone else!

I hope you've enjoyed reading my Fave Five this week. Read about others' weeks at Living to Tell the Story.

I lived in Ventura many years ago and it was one of my favorite places to live. Perfect weather and beautiful beaches!

I guess I really need to check out that FLYLADY....everybody raves about her (even my MOM), but I have *issues* with someone telling me to put on my shoes before I scrub my sink shiny!! LoL

Anyway...a great list of fave's; have a wonderful weekend ahead!

You're blessed to live in such a beautiful area, with sun and beaches and blue skies and good weather all year around!
I saw the Fave Five for the first time here, and I'm joining in for the first time this week too! I think it's a great idea to look back and remember the good moments in life! Even the little things like oranges are worth remembering!

ANOTHER Fri Fave 5 who lives near a beach! I envy you! We are in the frozen mid-west (although today and tomorrow it will be in the 40s and 50s!). I've been flinging a few items, too, but I need to be a bit more serious about the process. It does feel good to get rid of things you no longer need/want, but someone else could put to use. Have a great FF 5! Dana

I've got to get back to where flinging can really make a difference...Washington :0)
So the boy wanted Swedish Meat Balls, that's cute! I'm glad you can stroll the beaches while in Ventura to teach. Love all the photos Willow!!

Well happy belated birthday to your son, too! I'm thinking mine would loved that meal too, but he requested soft tacos so that's what we had. Freerice.com is fun.

It's crazy windy here too, but no nice blue skies for us.

Great week. Beautiful pictures.

You live amongst such beauty! Thank you for sharing it.
And picking and eating a mandarin orange right off the tree? Just a piece of heaven I'm sure! I get mine from a little tin can.

I love your fave five :) I'm sorry to hear about the sweater tossing, but it sounds like at least it's done!

Loved your list! I'll take your CA temps anytime this winter...here in NYS we are having a "real" winter: lots of snow, ice, frigid temps and snow days. I am ready to walk in 70 temps! You are blessed! Have a great weekend.

I LOVE Swedish meatballs. Do you have a good recipe? I generally eat them only when up in Solvange or at Ikea - LOL

Ventura has some beautiful beach spots!

This post pretty and colourful but hard to believe S.Ca has been grey and rainy.

70 degrees. We are in for severe weather next week with lows of minus 7 centigrade.

Always love reading your fave five, and we've been eating way too much of mandarin oranges. Though I'd love to pluck them from the trees. Have a great weekend :D

Thanks for the Flylady reminder. We have to get into the spuer fling boogie before we drwon under the clutter. I love how easy she makes it seem.

I also work Monday through Thursday, at the public school tutoring Special Ed. students. It does make for a nice weekend.

Due to the economy I've taken on the care of an older woman on Friday mornings...but we go places together so its not like WORK.

I loved the beach picture. It makes me want to come up--or move up there RIGHT NOW! We are enjoying the beautiful weather too. Today I worked in the yard and it felt great to have the sun on my legs!

Caroline likes the idea of picking your own oranges and your beautiful photos! She has decided that she needs to attend Cal Tech for college now!! So maybe Craig and I will end up moving out there just for in state tuition!!! We'll see! Stay warm! I'd take 60 degree weather right now!!

Okay. Right about now I have pretty much decided I picked the wrong coast to live on - snow, ice, freezing cold...oh,my! I do enjoy visiting here and I try to soak up the warmth from your photos and words! Thank you.

Beautiful sunny sea pics. Would you believe we had snow actually settle briefly here on the coast? The children scraped all the snow from the garden before it went to build a snow person. Good job they did as it was all gone by the next morning apart from their snow person puddle. :-)

I love the clearing out idea.

I hope you son had a lovely birthday.
