One Of Those Days

It was one of those Southern California Summer Saturdays. A sailing day. A beach day.

A day to get out on your bikes and follow the bike path from Playa del Rey to Marina del Rey to Venice Beach.

A day to watch the boats sail in and out of one of Marina del Rey's harbors, right there by the local library, right on the bike path.

It was one of those days to explore yet another Southern California Pacific Coast pier--this one at Venice Beach.

Yes, it was the perfect day to bike ten miles and stop for lunch on Washington Blvd, just a block from the beach. A perfect day to not have to wait in line for a half hour for a parking spot because you rode your bike along the bike path and you could simply lock your bikes on the pole in front of C&O.

A perfect lunch.
Little rolls drenched in olive oil and herbs.

Pasta Hugo.

It was one of those summer days that makes you smile, glad that you are alive.

One of THOSE days.

YOu know I love the beach. Living here in Hawai'i it's just awesome. And the beach in California looks so different to me and it's a good different. Any beach is great. The food looks excellent as well. Now you made me hungry so I should go get some dinner. Aloha and great post :)

A good day at the beach mid summer is what good summer movies are made of. You had the perfect spot .. .I can see it. Riding along on your bike is really the best way to go . .avoiding parking and line ups.
You have such pretty pictures.. .enjoy the second part of summer.

Looks like one great day. When we were first married and lived in W.L.A. we had a favorite little restaurant on Washington Blvd. :0)

A perfect day! I've eaten those rolls! Totally addictive. It's a great restaurant and so close to the beach. They rent bikes in the parking lot just across from that restaurant and that's generally where we rent from.

You captured the perfect summer day ~ in words and photos! I could feel the warmth and joy of your day - and I kept inhaling as I read trying to get a whiff of the refreshing ocean air. Thank you for sharing!

We don't have enough of those. I spent a day like that on Saturday snooping around in WA along the ocean. How fun and of course a lunch on the ocean front.
It won't take long before you are back to work. Keep enjoying those touring days.

This is my kind of day, Willow! Your lunch looked delightful.

I love to watch the sailboats and water activity from a pier.

I've heard Venice beach is a lively place -- I'd love to visit it one day!

Oh my word! Lved reading this post. It has been a rather wet and cloudy so far here in the UK, especially since the school holidays began. The last few weeks of term I am always dreaming of the six week holday about to start and six weeks ogf glorious sunshine. It doesn't often happen.
How amazing to see a photo of the pier at Venice. It brings back may happy memories of a great holiday spent touring that coastline six summers ago. We stayed in Venice for a couple off nights. Thank you for giving me a touch of your summer. :D
