I used to live in Los Angeles, at times in the city and other times in suburbs. When I was in college, we would drive into Los Angeles for shopping or visiting the world's best chili hot dog stand. After college, for a while I worked in Santa Monica and would drive down the 405 and then west on Sunset Blvd to get to the office. Years and years later, we lived in LA and then in Ventura County. We would drive Pacific Coast Hwy back and forth to visit friends or hang on the beach or go to Getty Center Museum and Getty Villa (in Pacific Palisades).
These fires that are raging in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas right now are tugging at my heart. Last month in the Mountain Fire, our friends lost their beautiful home where we go to watch Fourth of July fireworks. During the years we lived in Camarillo (Ventura County), we were evacuated two times from our home due to fires, one of which burned to about two hundred yards of our house.

...at this moment in time I feel safe in my little piece of paradise. With climate change, how long will I feel safe?
I've been wondering and hoping that the Getty museums survive through these fires. I even shared some photos of when we were there with Sara in 2008 on my hodgepodge post for this coming Wednesday.
We found out that a Greg's cousin's son lost his home in the Altadena fire. So sad and devastating.
Those fires are terrible. such loss and devastation. my heart breaks for the families. I will add your friends to my prayer list.
I can certainly understand why the fires in L. A. are heartbreaking for you, Willow. It's so sad.
It really is so sad. The winds always bring the fear of fires. I am glad the museums are safe. I hope we get the aid we need. California has sent help to many states in their time of need. It was nice to hear we have received help from Canada and Mexico. I live about an hour from Los Angeles.
I have been following the fires all day long each day on the news. So horrible!! And now even more so with the looters! I'm glad you are far away from it.
Such a worrying time for so many.
