There is really not much I need to write. Just gaze at the photos and you will be as enchanted as I was. The Ojai Valley is nestled in the mountains above Ventura, California and you can see the mountains in the background towering above the farm.
Acres and acres of roses and lavender are grown for sale to various markets.
Lavender and roses--my two favorite flowers. The ladybugs and bees agree.

I am drooling as i look at them. You know we dont have most of them here, some roses here and there from the highlands, but lavendar? oh...I want to see, feel and smell it!! never seen them except in packaging of powder :( you have a great week ahead :)

Beautiful! I was curious about how they keep the roses from being eaten by bugs. Is it partly the ladybugs that eat the aphids? And does the lavender help? I love that more and more farms are turning to organic practices!
A terrific pairing, Willow. I saw in some areas of Paris, however, where lavender and roses were planted in too much proximity and the lavender smothered the roses. Isn't it wonderful to see healthy roses blooming in profusion?!

I have pleasant memories of driving through Ojai on the way to Santa Barbara when my family would drive from Taft to Ojai on Hwy 33.

How glorious - and I was very happy to see the picture of the BEE.
Now that's my kind of farm! I just love how roses and lavender are such great partners in the garden together. The David Austen roses are just gorgeous. I have one in my garden--the Abraham Darby. I don't know if the purple one is a David Austen... I bought it at Walmart as a bareroot a few years ago. I don't think they sell anything that fancy. Any clues you find in your book would be VERY helpful!
